TIMES SQUARE

Location: Quezon Boulevard, Quiapo, Manila

The times square was built in 1939, it is designed by Architect Luiz Z. Araneta with

art deco design. Back in early 40’s to 60’s the Times Theatre was one of the

luxurious cinema houses in Manila. Difficulties happened at the theatre when the

Japanese occupation started, but despite the orders from the Japanese Military

Administration the owners of the theatre intentionally omitted propaganda pictures.

Today the theatre is still operational and can accommodate 800 people, but since it

is unmaintained, it is not recommended to watch inside because it is dirty hot, and in

state of disrepair, it is also said to be the “hunting ground” of sexual activities.
