PROPOSED CONCEPT NOTE FORMAT

The Concept Note must answer 4 sections in a maximum of 3 pages (font size cannot be smaller than
Arial 10).

Some questions to be addressed in relevant sections are highlighted in italics.

1. Title:
Title should be short and should reflect the overall idea/purpose of the project.

2. Introduction or background:

State the problem that is being addressed and explain the root causes of this problem.
Highlight the opportunities available to make the intervention successful. Give
references and data (gender and age) to support your narrative.
How relevant is the proposal to the needs and constraints of the country, Dzongkhag or community?

What are the problems to be resolved and the needs to be met?

What is the added value to existing action actions if any?

3. Goals and Objectives:


Goal is usually the long-term impact while Objectives have to be specific, measurable,
achievable, relevant and time-bound (SMART); limit your objectives to 3 or 5

Who are the final beneficiaries, target groups?

4. Expected results:
List the results that the project will achieve during the project period.

What are the main project activities?

What are the expected results?

5. Innovation:
Explain the uniqueness of your project, what value will you add, what is different about
you project.

Who is the main implementing agency and partner/s?

How will the project achieve sustainability?

Will it have multiplier effects?


6. Budget overview:
Submit a reasonable sense of how much money you are seeking from the donor to
execute the project. Give a quick breakup of the main items (not more than 5-6). Any
matching contribution from you or any other agency can also be mentioned here.

7. Complete Contact information


Give contact details including phone, fax, email and post box number (if present)
