ACTIVITY NO. __
Make Your Capacitor

Capacitor
Capacitor is a device that stores energy of electrical charges.
Capacitance
Capacitance is the amount of energy that can be stored in a capacitor.

OBJECTIVES:
• To learn the concept of capacitors,
• To understand how a capacitor works,
• Differentiate the capacitance thought the sizes and distance.

MATERIALS:

Paper Aluminum Foil

Wire Paste
Tape Multimeter

Procedure

1. Cut four square pieces of aluminum foil. One pair

has 4x4 inches while the other pair has 6x6.
2. Cut a paper that is 3x bigger than the piece of
aluminum foil.
3. Paste the square pieces of aluminum foil 5mm
away from the edge of the paper.
4. Place the wire at the middle of the square
aluminium foil
5. Bend the end of the wire 180 degrees for better contact.
6. No glue on the aluminium foil must touch the wire.
7. Fold the paper
8. Place another foil at the back of the folded paper. Repeat steps 4-7.
9. Calculate the capacitance using a multimeter.

Answer key:
1. Capacitor is a device that stores energy of electrical charges.
2. The capacitance is the amount of electric energy present in the capacitor.
3. the factors that affect the capacitance size and distance
4. Capacitors helps in the conditioning of power supplies
5. Powerbank for its stores energy and releases energy when a cord is inserted to it.

Generalizations:
A capacitor is made up of two metallic plates with a dielectric material in between. When

you apply a voltage over the two plates, an electric field is created. Positive charge will collect

on one plate and then moves on the negative charge on the other.
