Where-in-the-World Knowing my students’ backgrounds is important for me and
Bulletin Board Activity my students, which is why this activity allowed students to
have a visual of where they are from and how connected the
world is.
Dutch Hex Signs Activity This activity allowed students to express who they are
represented through the arts, which allowed me to learn
more about them and their own thoughts about themselves.
This activity also provided me insight into my students’
interests that I could then incorporate within my lessons.
JAMN Goals Reviewing data and setting goals for students by grouping
them in specific small instructional groups demonstrates my
ability to identify their individual needs academically.
REFLECTION
DISTINGUISHED HIGH PROFICIENT PROFICIENT BASIC UNSATISFACTORY

If there is one area that I am very confident as a second-year teacher, it is knowing my


students. I am always considering their background, home situation, regular attitude and
demeanors, and their academic trends. I consistently monitor students for changes and
growth academically and socially and reach out to parents as needed if I notice changes in
that growth. Knowing my students is extremely important to me and one of the most
powerful tools that you can use in the classroom.
