Dr. Cyrus Maxwell Boger was a student of Dr. Boenninghausen and devoted his life working on
translating and widening his teachers contribution to homeopathy. One of the epitome achievement is
Boger’s General Analysis. This was used as the basis of Boger’s Card Index Repertory. Boger first
published the Card Repertory with General Analysis in the year 1928 which consisted of 17 pages, 304
cards and about 224 remedies. There are 6 editions of Card Repertory and the latest 6th edition is
present in Zomeo Homeopathic software under Complete Repertory.

Based on Boenninghausen’s concept of grand generalization, this concise repertory by Boger is limited to

concomitant which is one grand symptom. The rubrics in General Analysis as the title suggests are
limited to generals than particulars or specifics. They are pertain to the locations according to the
anatomical sphere where the symptoms arise.

If you think that how can this small repertory be of any use in daily practice? It is a hidden gem of
homeopathy by Boger who compiled to be useful for complex, chronic cases. The long-standing chronic
diseases lack characteristic symptoms or are mingled, confusing. In such cases, General Analysis
repertory comes handy due to the concept of generalisation and the characteristics of the remedies.

It stands at third section from last part of Complete repertory before the sections ‘Clinical’ and ‘Mirilli’s

How to use General Analysis Repertory

The repertory is substantial when you find few characteristics or none. You must have had number of
skin diseases at your clinic and yet find it difficult to relieve all of them due to the chronicity and the
symptoms obscured by multitude of treatments.

Let us understand the use of this repertory in a case of female with chronic Psoriasis. The skin is reddish
with classic silvery scales of psoriasis and intense itching. The patient becomes irritable due to itching
and spats at family members. When family members were questioned, they said she is hot-tempered but
the itching makes her more angry. The itching markedly increased during night and in winter season. The
patient dreads winter because it aggravated her complaints. Her appetite, urine, thirst, stool were normal.
She had psoriasis since 10 years with little to no relief and no particular characteristics were found.

The following totality was constructed with limited characteristics:

• Psoriatic Eruptions
• Night agg+++
• Anger, irritable
• Winter agg

As the rubrics in General Analysis are generalized ones and not specifics, the rubric ‘eruptions’ is
selected. It deals with any kind of eruptions despite any specifications.

Similarly, we recorded other symptoms and we got the final repertorization.
