Test Procedures 1. Establish the testing configuration according to the above diagram without the
Adjustable Optical attenuator (VOA).
2. Running BER Tester and make sure the BER Test is running normally.
3. To perform margin test:
STEP 1: At the point ① adjust the Adjustable Optical attenuator (VOA) to
make the input power of the optical amplifying unit to be tested within its
permissible input range until the BER Tester shows error, Then check and save
the attenuator result of VOA. Remove the VOA.
STEP 2: At the point ② adjust the Adjustable Optical attenuator (VOA) to
make the input power of the optical amplifying unit to be tested within its
permissible input range until the BER Tester shows error, Then check and save
the attenuator result of VOA. Remove the VOA.
STEP 2: At the point ③ adjust the Adjustable Optical attenuator (VOA) to
make the input power of the optical amplifying unit to be tested within its
permissible input range until the BER Tester shows error, Then check and save
the attenuator result of VOA. Remove the VOA.
Marks:

Conditions Add an FOA at the receive end of the client side of every OTU board, to ensure that
the client-side receive optical power is within the range specified in the engineering
design.
Test 1. At the local OTM station, connect the signals output from the IP analyzer to the Rx

perform a loopback at the optical interfaces on the client side of the corresponding
OTUn board. Then, connect the Tx port on the OTUn board at the local OTM station
to the Rx port of the IP analyzer.(Note: The loopback operation should be performed
on the opposite ODF. The IP analyzer should be connected to the local ODF.)
2. Test the packet loss, delay, throughput MTU result
3. Obtain the test results from the analyzer.
Expected 1.Packets loss 0%.
Results 2.The result of delay/latency is Pass on the tester.
3.Throughput MTU (9600 Byte) is Pass on the tester.
