Membrane shall be installed with standard 75mm selvedge laps, and end laps executed
with Fixer, applied as per manufacturer’s instructions. Membrane shall be laid over the
entire area and returned on to a vertical slab formwork. Hot applied materials or protective
screed shall NOT be permitted. All systems to be installed as per manufacturer's
recommendations, etc. complete with all lead and lift for all materials and labour and as
directed by PM.

3.4 Basement Retaining Wall

Providing & laying HDPE Membrane waterproofing system on outside surface of RCC
retaining walls of approved self adhesive, cold applied, flexible 1.5mm thick waterproofing
membrane comprising of a self adhesive rubberized asphalt with a unique composite film
engineered for strength, flexibility & a smooth finish with a pre-marked minimum 50 mm
overlap aid applied on the uniform concrete surface. The self adheisve membrane shall
confirm to BS 8102:2009 for protection of all basement types and shall have following
minimum properties :
(i) Puncture resistance of 220 N (ASTM E154 -88)
(ii) Resistance to Hydrostatic head of > 50m (ASTM D 5385)
(iii) Tear resistance of 23N/mm (ASTM D 624 modified)
(iv) Tensile resistance of 4N/mm (ASTM D412 modified)
(v) Elongation of membrane (to ultimate failure of rubberised asphalt) - 200% (ASTM D412
modified)
(vi) The membrane should be resistant to sulphate, nitrates & salt in soil.

- Make 20mm x 20mm chase/rebate on the vertical wall for termination of the membrane.
The chase/rebate shall be adequately sealed with approved single component flexible
polyurethane sealant.
- The laid membrane shall be protected with a 25mm thick approved expanded polystyrene
of 24kg/cum density to be placed directly on membrane before backfilling. Sqm
