Tournament Prospectus
1. Name: Penang Chief Minister Cup Interschool Table Tennis Championships 2020
2. Objective: To promote and popularize the sport to all primary school and secondary
school children.
3. Rules: The tournament shall be conducted according to the Rules of the International
Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and the following regulations.
4. Registration:
Entries are invited for the following events:
i. Under-10 Boys’ Team Event (Born in 2010 and after)
ii. Under-10 Girls’ Team Event (Born in 2010 and after)
iii. Under-12 Boys' Team Event (Born in 2008 and after)
iv. Under-12 Girls' Team Event (Born in 2008 and after)
iii. Under-15 Boys' Team Event (Born in 2005 and after)
iv. Under-15 Girls' Team Event (Born in 2005 and after)
5. Mode of Competition:
Teams will be divided into groups depending on the number of participating teams to play
in a round robin league to determine the two qualifying teams to enter the next round. A
single knockout system shall be played for the 2nd round, quarterfinals, semifinals and
final. The organizer reserves the right to change / decide the mode of competition
depends on the number of participating teams.
6. Competition Format:
6.1 The format of play as follows shall be used.

6.2 Each player is allowed to play a maximum of 2 matches and 1 of the singles match
only.

6.4 A team conceding a walkover (due to the absence of player) in any of the individual
matches shall be deemed to have conceded a walkover in that team match.
7.2 All teams shall register their players in the official entry form.
7.3 Target for 36 team participants in each categories on first come first served basis.
Each school shall be limited to send in not more than 3 teams per category unless
there are less than 36 team participants in each categories after the closing date.
7.4 Change of players is allowed before the commencement of the competition. Any
request for change of player after the start of the competition will not be entertained.
7.5 The student must be studying in the school that they represent.
8.2 During the play, only non-marking shoes / indoor table tennis shoes are allowed
in the table tennis court.
9. Date of Competition: 28th & 29th March 2020 (Saturday & Sunday)
14. Entries: Entry forms with the appropriate fees must reach the Hon. Secretary c/o
Penang Table Tennis Association at the above address or the PTTA email address
pttapenang@gmail.com before the closing date.
Payment can be made by cash, cheque or banked into the Association’s account.
(Cheque made payable to PENANG TABLE TENNIS ASSOCIATION). Please attach
bank transaction slip if paid to the PTTA account @ CIMB Bank: 800 7722 400.

15. Prizes:
15.1 Certificate of Participation will be given to all participants.
15.2 Trophies, medals & cash prizes will be given to each category as follows.
Champion : RM 300.00 + trophy & medals
Runner-up : RM 200.00 + trophy & medals
3rd Placing : RM 100.00 + trophy & medals
4th Placing : RM 80.00 + trophy & medals
5th – 8 Placing

: RM 50.00 + trophy
9th – 12th Placing : RM 30.00
16. Opening Ceremony: To be Confirmed. All participating teams are invited to attend.
17. Prize Presentation Ceremony: To be Confirmed. All participating teams are invited to
attend.
19. Disputes: All matters of dispute shall be referred to the jury and the jury’s decision shall
be final. If there is any discrepancy in the interpretation or meaning between the Malay
and English versions of the Prospectus, the English version shall be prevail.
20. Protest: Appeal or protest must be forwarded in writing together with a deposit of
RM50.00 within 30 minutes after the conclusion of the match. If it is resolved that such
appeal or protest is unfounded, the deposit shall be forfeited.
21. Right to Reject Entry: The jury reserves the right to reject any team / player from
participating.
22.2 The travel / personal / accident insurance are not included in the registration fees.
All participants shall be responsible for their own insurance cover for any
unforeseen circumstances such as accidents, injury, illness, hospitalization, loss of
personal belongings, flight delays, etc.
22.3 The Organizer will not be responsible for any loss of property, health issues or injury
sustained during the duration of the tournament.
