Subject: Verification of AMF Panels in the switch Gear room
(Substations).
Location: Port Harcourt Base Industrial Area Sub Station 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 8A
And Residential Area Sub station 1,2, 3,4,5,6 and 7

Priority: provision, repair/ commission of AMF panels

INDUSTRIAL AREA( I. A.) SUBSTATIONS

SUBSTATION 1
Sub Station 1 consist of unit A and unit B sections and therefore there is no
AMF panels. Consequently, it requires the provision of 2nos Automatic mains
failure (AMF)

SUBSTATION 2, 7 AND 8
These Substations consist of unit A and unit B. The Substations are without any
diagrams// Information, will require control module information/diagram for trouble
shooting, where this is not available we can modify and provide operational
diagram.

SUBSTATION 5
The AMF panel is dilapidated leaving behind only the empty enclosure and flying
control cables. Presently a manual changeover is used. Required a new AMF panel.

SUBSTATION 6
Sub Station 6 consist of two sections, Busbar A and Busbar B with 1250A 50KA -
3pole motorized breaker and another with LC1 F6304 – 4p Contactor. These two
panels are operated manually by switching of the control miniature circuit breakers
(MCBs) and switches on respectively.
OBSERVATION: On visual inspection, It was observed that AMF panel cards are
burnt which are the central control unit for transfer operation. Also the left hand
side of the Utility 1250A 3p coupled motorized breaker is now manually toggled
operating system in the absence of motor operating mechanism.

The breaker ABB SACE S7S is an obsolete and is currently replaced with Tmax
T7 breakers. The present two breakers will be replaced and a control module
provided.

The contactor AMF panel will be modified with a new control system if the
contactor`s coils are functional. See pix 2 and 3

SUBSTATION 8A
Sub Station 8A is two section power centre. Section A is a unit of OLD GEN /
TURBINE and section B comprises of NEW GEN / TURBINE. This station has no
AMF and required the provision and Installation of two units (AMF panel.)

RESIDENTIAL AREA SUB STATION (R.A.)

SUBSTATION 1
Sub Station 1 consist of Bus bar A and B. There are no AMF panels Consequently,
the station is recommended for provision of 2nos of AMF panels.

SUBSTATION 2
No AMF Panel. Its requires the installation of 2nos. of AMF panels

SUBSTATION 3
No AMF Panel. Its requires the installation of 2nos. of AMF panels

SUBSTATION 4
No AMF Panel. Its requires the installation of 2nos. of AMF panels

SUBSTATION 5
No AMF Panel but a manual changeover switch is used. It require the installation
of 2 Nos of AMF panels. See pix R1 below.

SUBSTATION 6
This substation has a functional 1000A AMF panel of DSE model 720 Deep sea
Electronic module. The functional operation of this panel is in good order.

SUBSTATION 7
The existing AMF panel in this station is in good order. The functional operation of
this panel is also effective.

SUMMARY
AMF panels required for Industrial Area (I A) Substations, Port Harcourt is 15
units.
Modification: 8nos.
Purches and Supply: 7nos

AMF panels required for Residential Area (R A) Substations, Port Harcourt is


10units
