In reviewing the job description, I believe that Ms. Sage embodies the desired qualifications and would be a tremendous asset to the expanded learning program. Ms. Sage has been a classroom teacher at Fesler Junior High School since graduating from the credential program in English at California Polytechnic State University. Since that time, Ms. Sage has demonstrated her ability to create an inclusive classroom environment that is grounded in rigorous standards with a variety of supports to ensure student success. In addition to teaching at the middle school level, Ms. Sage is currently enrolled in the curriculum and instruction master’s degree program in the School of Education at Cal Poly. I have had the pleasure of serving as Ms. Sage’s advisor on her action research project, which focuses on improving the listening and speaking skills of middle school students. In developing this innovative unit in which students created their own podcasts, Ms. Sage grounded her instruction in culturally relevant teaching, Through this project and her master’s program coursework, Ms, Sage holds a strong understanding of social, emotional, and cultural awareness and could easily apply this when working with families as the liaison for the expanded learning program. Ms. Sage has a strong work ethic and reflects deeply on her practice. She is committed to equity and inclusion and creates learning environments where all students can succeed, Iam confident that Ms. Sage would thrive coordinating and facilitating the expanded learning program after school and during the summer. Ifyou have any questions, please let me know.
