Every Child is Special

Many children are born in unique ways. Some are born geniuses
and some who were born normal. There are some children in a certain
sector of our society who are called special ones. In our generations,
some of these children are born with special needs that need special
treatment. These children are gifted, special in some ways we couldn’t
imagine. They only need our love and understanding.
This movie entitled “EVERY CHILD IS SPECIAL” from a
Bollywood is all about the story of a child who has dyslexia, a disorder
that involves difficulty in learning. Dyslexia is not a classification to say
you can’t do anything. It is a chance and an odd to learn differently. We
all have extraordinary brains; they just process differently.
Ishaan Awasthi is an eight years old child who is very
talented in arts. His world is filled with fascinating that no one else
seems to appreciate. The first time you saw the child, you’ll just think
he's just a simple boy playing, imagining things and messing up in
school as a normal boy do. But there something about him. Because of
the lack of ideas people around him they didn’t notice that the child's
attitude is not the problem. His disorder inside him, he can see the letters
moving, and changes and sometimes he can read of the letters opposite
to the original places off it, making it for him, difficulty reading and
understand well. His parents don’t know about his disorder, they just
thought its because of the attitude of Ishaan.
Awasthi family consists of Nandkishore, his wife Maya, Yohan
and Ishaan. The two children Yohan and Ishaan are studying at St.
Anthony School. His brother Yohan excels in studies but Ishaan is the
exact opposite. Everything about him is negative, he always fails in
class, skip of class and as a result, he hides his reports card from his
parents. His teachers give the principal a reason to throw him out of the
school. Even in-home Ishaan always in trouble with the children in the
area, and he can’t control his behavior. Ishaan's father Mr. Awashti, is a
successful businessman who expects his children to excel. He expects
Ishaan to do more in school but because the teachers are complaining
about the capacity of the boy he always impregnated his son. he is
frustrated by his son’s academic problems and applies pressure to his
young son without seeing improvement and believes that Ishaan is just
lazy that’s why he fails in class. He sent Ishaan to a boarding school to
become independent and to be disciplined. Her mother Maya is
frustrated to educate her son, even though she’s not agreed with the
decision of her husband but she has no choice.
When Ishaan was sent in the boarding school, the child felt
homesick, his problem compounded it and became the reason for
sadness, depression, fear and more withdrawn. Despite being friended
by Rajan a physically disabled boy who is one of the top students in the
class. Ishaan thinks about suicidal by climbing in a fence of a terrace,
luckily his friend Rajan saves him. Still, in boarding school, he also
experiences bullying and receives bad words coming from his different
teachers.
Fortunately, a substitute teacher of arts Ram Shankar Nikumbh an
optimistic and positive instructor at a Tulips school for young children
with developmental disabilities. Ram's teaching style is different from
the other of his teacher. He quickly sees Ishaan’s unhappiness and
inscrutable participation in-class activities and because of that teacher
Ram evaluate Ishaan's work, he looks at the notes and check the
background of the child. He notices that the child has a dyslexic. One
day he visited the parents of Ishaan. and discover the interest of the child
in the arts. he discusses the child's condition. Mr. Ram explains to Mr.
Awashti the condition of Ishaan even though for him it is mental
retardation or laziness. But Mr. Awashti didn’t believe the teacher about
the condition called dyslexia of his son Ishaan.
Teacher Ram returns and brings up the topic of dyslexia in a class
by offering a list of famous people who were dyslexic. Afterward, he
comforts Ishaan by telling him how he fights as a child as well by facing
similar problems. Ram then visits the school's principal and obtains his
permission to become Ishaan's tutor. With restrained supervision, he
attempts to improve Ishaan's reading and writing by using many
techniques developed by dyslexia specialists. Ishaan soon develops an
interest in his studies and the end, his grades improve.
Towards the end of the school year, Ram organizes an equitable art
for the teachers and students. The competition is judged by artist Lalita
Lajmi. Ishaan is declared the winner because of his creative style and
Ram, who paints Ishaan's portrait, is declared the runner-up. Mr. Ram
becomes a permanent teacher in the school. When Ishaan's parents meet
his teachers on the last day of school, they are left speechless by the
changes they see in him. Overcome with emotion, Mr. Awasthi thanks
teacher Ram. Before Ishaan get into the car he turns back and ran to Mr.
Ram to hug and told him to return after summer.
Another deep lesson comes in my mind was about how teachers
greatly affect their student's outlook in life, and how they influence
them. A simple show of approach and understanding goes a long way
especially if the child has experienced something. Personal crisis in
coping with personal incompetence. Every child is unique and special
that can give passion and at the same time, it is an inspiration that having
dyslexia is not a hopeless situation. Family support and love are created
subject to this story plus the original focus on drawing, painting, and art.
The law on multiple intelligences in the study plays a major role in this
movie and can be very enlightening to teachers and parents alike. Every
child is special is a heart touching movie.
