specifically and has its own rules of play. The use of language in a society is the determining
factors linguistic forms that are acceptable in certain societies.

2. Social life, including language use, is governed by norms – socially shared concepts of
appropriate and expected behaviour. The most basic of these concepts are acquired in early
childhood through socialisation. In the case of language norms, this means that the first
language norms adopted are the ones of everyday spoken language.

knowledge obtained by an individual in a different group of people when they (individuals)
learn to use language (speech) that is appropriate in their community. Choosing a variety or
language code to use in communication involves choosing to use a different language, such
as language style. So, gradually individual language development will develop.

4. Nigeria is a multilingual country. However, the arrival of English language has helped in
several ways in solving the complexity since the vast multilingual populace could
communicate in English, nigeria has with over 400 languages and thousands of dialects.
English language becomes the only interactional language among the vast and mixed
populace in each of these cities. There are many sociolinguistic factors determine the use of
English in these cities as; the issues of education, status, location and gender. The English in
use in each of these cities is determined by the social setting and the cultural environment.

5. The effects of mixed languages that occur in the community, young people who should be
the next generation and preserve cultural noble values including languages begin to compete
in speaking in foreign languages, slang or a mixture of local languages, Indonesian and
foreign languages. If the use of language is not the right problem, but what happens then is
the use of inappropriate language such as "Oh you are kamseupay" or "thank you thank you".
When viewed from the grammar or arrangement of words, the sentences do not include
regional languages, Indonesian, and foreign languages. It happened because of the lack of
young people's knowledge about good and correct Indonesian grammar. Less interest in
learning Indonesian. Today many people are competing to master a foreign language even
though their Indonesian language is sometimes still not good. Yet when they learn a foreign
language, Indonesian becomes a companion language.
