Here will start a new Tutorial on How to Generate a complete PVT set (study) using PVTsim software.
This software is the most advanced PVT modeling in the market. And it is compatible with all fluid
flow/assurance software.
In Attachment you will find the real data full stream (well fluid) composition provided with a
professional member in FANARCO.
Open PVTsim (My version is 21 so the features may be different from other versions little bit).
From the File menu choose (Create New Database), then save the database wherever you want....
From Fluid menu choose (Enter new fluid). A new window will be displayed
We Notice that H2S is included in the PVTsim table and the list is up to C20 only.
So, we need to add more components to the list and to assign H2S to zero since we don't have H2S in
the real data.
Click Add Comps Button to add more Components to the database list.
A new window will appear, select C21 from the list then OK.
Notice that C27 in the real data (Excel sheet) is C27P (plus).
So, in PVTsim double click on C27 and name it C27P and OK.
Modify the properties of C27P in the database as in the screen shot below to be in consistent with the
real data.
In the "Fluid" field name the fluid to identify it later on.
I named it PVT_F
Now you created the database and stored the fluid composition.
For our case we should build a new Unit system (the common unites in PVT).
In "Options" menu choose "Unit System and Settings" and choose these units as below and name it
whatever
I named it "FANARCO".
Click OK.
Now we need to identify this fluid in the reservoir conditions;
In order to create the Phase envelop Go to Simulations Explorer and double click on Phase Envelope as
below .
In the newly opened window leave the defaults as it is except the mole fractions values, you can enter
any values between 0 to 1.00
Just follow
The reservoir fluid is kept in a cell at reservoir conditions. The pressure is reduced in steps at constant
temperature and the change in volume is measured. The saturation point volume, Vsat, is used as a
reference value and the volumetric results presented are relative volumes, i.e., the volumes divided by
Vsat.
The reservoir fluid is kept in a cell at reservoir temperature and saturation point pressure. The pressure
is reduced in steps, and at each level as much gas is removed that the volume of the remaining gas and
oil mixture equals the saturation point volume.
- Differential Depletion
This experiment is only carried out for oil mixtures. The reservoir fluid is kept in a cell at the reservoir
temperature. The experiment is usually started at the saturation pressure. The pressure is reduced
stepwise and all the liberated gas is displaced and flashed to standard conditions. This procedure is
repeated 6-10 times. The end point is measured at standard conditions.
