Year End Accomplishment Report in Campus Journalism (The Pioneer)


S.Y. 2019-2020
I. Introduction

Journalism is a part of social activities which is concerned with the


dissemination of news and views about the society. It includes the activities
involving writing, preparation and production of the communication messages.
Campus journalism helps the students to become more aware of what’s
happening around them. They learn how to become responsive and proactive
citizens at a young age. It supports and trains students to become more
responsible and to spread the truth. Also, students are trained to be sensitive and
just in expressing their views and commentaries on certain issues through the
print media, and for some, through on air broadcast.

To train the staffers and select the individual contestants, the school paper
advisers, Mrs. Fatima A. Visaya and Mr. Kevin A. Monforte, along with the
teachers of the language department headed by Mrs. Marivel B. Longboy,
conducted the School-Based Campus Journalism Workshop with the theme
“Fostering 21st Century Skills and Character Based Education Through Campus
Journalism ” on August 4-5, 2019 at Cabatuan National High School, Cabatuan,
Isabela.

During the Area Level Schools Press Conference 2019, the resounding
call where the theme “Fostering 21st Century Skills and Character Based
Education Through Campus Journalism ” was heard by a number of delegates
from different towns from Legislative District 3 of Isabela who gathered in
Cabatuan National High School, Cabatuan, Isabela, August 30, 2019.

The Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) 2019 for the Radio
Broadcasting and Script Writing Contest and Individual events was held at
Tumauini National High School, Tumauini, Isabela. The competition for the
Radio Broadcasting and scriptwriting occurred on the first day of the event
while the competition for the Individual event happened on the second day and
the awarding was held in the afternoon. Cabatuan National High School was
awarded as the Top 10 Grossing School.

DSPC PICTURES
The Division Schools Press Conference(DSPC) 2019 Group contest and
the Seminar workshop for the Regional Schools Press Conference(RSPC) 2019
was held at Alfreda Albano National High School, Cabagan, Isabela on October
9-10, 2019. With the theme “Empowering Communities Through Campus
Journalism” the conference aims to demonstrate understanding of the
importance of journalism by expressing it through different journalistic
endeavors and approaches and to sustain advocacy on social consciousness and
environmental awareness.

RSPC PICTURES:
Regional Schools Press Conference(RSPC) 2019 was conducted at
Bayombong Central School, Bayombong, Nueva Viscaya last November 12-15,
2019. With the theme “Fostering 21st Century Skills and Character Based
Education Through Campus Journalism ” the said event had the objective of
building awareness of campus journalists, their rights and responsibilities as
young leaders and in enriching students’ journalistic learning experiences by
providing them venues to hone their potential as young writers.
