Globe
Babylon 8 offers you a unique contextual awareness Globe, which provides quick access to
Babylon various services such as: Text translation, Web page translation, Units conversion
and Speller.
Babylon Globe will auto detect your selection on any application, and will then offer you the
most relevant service by rotating in a semi-transparent manner.
Translation Results
When you open a Web page in a foreign language, Babylon 8 will automatically detect the
language and offer you to translate the entire Web page to the language of your choice. This
service can also be accessible from the Babylon 8 Activation Pane at the bottom of the
Babylon window and using the Babylon Globe.
To translate texts you can copy and paste the selected paragraph into Babylon text translation
window. Babylon 8 enables you to browse a document and load its content into the Babylon
text translation window. Once the text is placed in the original text area you may initiate the
text translation service.
By default Babylon will automatically detect original text language (source language can be
manually changed). Select the target 'to' language, click on the 'Translate' button and Babylon
automatically translates the text for you.
The translated result will appear directly under the text box, allowing you to easily compare
the two texts. Babylon translates approximately 300 words (512 characters) on each
translation request leaving the un-translated text colored in gray (in the original text area).
In addition, you can also directly access the text translation service from the Babylon Globe
or the Babylon menu in the Windows tray.
Target Languages
Use the languages and flag drop down list in the term box to set your language results.
Languages in the top section of the list become active languages in your target languages
management. You can easily add remove and change the order of the list from the
configuration -> Languages & Dictionaries tab.
The order of the languages in the list corresponds to the order in which results appear.
Auto Complete
When you start typing in a word, after the second letter , Babylon will start displaying
suggested completions to the word you are typing,. This feature requires installed dictionaries.
Spell Checker
Babylon's Spell Checker will track typos and offer corrections in Internet Explorer's Text
Boxes. Before you send your comment, or submit a new Blog entry, click on the Babylon
Globe’s Speller service and Babylon will check your spelling. Typos will be marked bold,
underlined and red. Right clicking on them will reveal Babylon's corrections.
Note: This feature requires an installed dictionary.
In Microsoft Office (mainly word) when a spelling error is detected, Ms office speller
provides suggestion. Babylon 8 will define and translate each suggested spelling in your main
language.
Click on any number or value and Babylon will display the appropriate conversion in the
results window.
Babylon uses the unit symbols adjacent to the value to select the best conversion unit for the
number selected.
