NARRATIVE REPORT ON 2019 SPED FUN DAY

FESTIVAL OF TALENTS OF LEARNERS WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

(GIFTED AND TALENTED)

Pursuant to the DEPED Order No. 72, s. 2009 regarding Inclusive

Education as Strategy for Increasing Participation Rate of Children.

DepEd Memo No. 07s.2019 reiterates celebration of the National Week for
the Gifted and Talented which specifically aims to strengthen academic excellence,
leadership, value formation and love of country among all the gifted and talent. To
realize the Inclusive Education Program activities for the Gifted and Talented
Learners, SPED Pangasinan II celebrated the annual SPED FUN DAY, FESTIVAL
OF TALENTS OF CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS with the
theme: “CELEBRATING DIVERSITY THROUGH THE PERFORMANCE OF
TALENTS AND SKILLS FOR SUSTAINABLE INCLUSIVE EDUCATION” last
November 26, 2019 at Pozorrubio Central School, Pozorrubion,
Pangasinan.

THE OPENING

The program started at exactly 8:30 by the singing of the National anthem,
followed by a doxology. Participants exercised their patriotism by the singing of the
local hymns entitled: Pangasinan Hymn, Pangasinan II hymn, and Pozorrubio Hymn.
The welcoming ambiance of the Pozorrubio Central School was set by the motherly
Principal, Dr. Marlinda S. Saldivar, were she emphasizes the spirit of celebrating
diversity so as greatness of participants for being the representative of their
respective districts. She also gave thanks to the donors, coaches, school heads and
to the parents who continuously supporting their child/ children. The participants
were also presented by the School SPED Coordinator and a Master Teacher II of the
said institution, Madam Gina C. Montefalco, who she commanded to raise by
districts and events. She also presented the different school heads and higher
officials who graced the occasion. After which, an angelic voice serenades the
participants in the person of Tricia Ricamara from Binalonan I. The public Schools
District, Dr. Virginia S. Cabero, as the host district gave inspirational message by
tackling on enhancing the potential talent bestowed to us. She reiterated that
through exercising then we can be better and through sharing this talent we can be
best.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

The contest proper begins after the reading of the mechanics and criteria by
Mr. Jeric M. Gutierrez, a SPED teacher and followed by the introduction of the board
of judges by the District SPED Coordinator of Pozorrubio I, Mr. Jacinto C. Cabero, Jr.
The judges are Mr. Joseph E. Siador, a retired Master Teacher, Dr. Edmund D.
Custodio, a Senior High School Teacher and a winning coach from different dance
and arts related contests and Madam Flordeliza B. Rafanan, the Chief Operating
Officer of Matatag Book Distribution and Trades Corporation. The events as follows
were simultaneously done except for the Search for Mr. & Ms. Headstart 2019 which
happened at exactly 1:00 in the afternoon of the said date.

During the event, most of the pupils participated actively. They enjoyed the
different activities. In general, the conduct of 2019 Division Sped Fun Day, Festival
of Talents of Children With Special Educational Needs was successful through the
supervision of the prime mover of the event, Dr. Marites M. Tabuga.
