I. Objectives

Topic: Active Recreation (Hip-Hop Dances)

IV. Procedures
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayers
2. Greetings
3. Arranging of chairs
4. Checking of attendance
5. Review
The teacher asks some random students to answer the following:
 What was the lesson we had last meeting?
 What did you learn about the lesson?
 What activities did you have to learn all this?
B. Motivation (Charades)
1. The teacher asks the students to group themselves into 2
2. The teacher will execute some dance moves in front.
3. Each group is given 3 actions, those 3 must be guessed by the group to gain points.
4. The group who has a higher point is the winner.
5. The teacher now asks the students the following:
a. Are the actions done in front very familiar to you?
b. Where do you usually see these actions?
c. What do you think are we going to discuss today?
C. Lesson Proper
1. The teacher shows and discusses the brief history of hip-hop dance,
2. After that, the teacher now discusses the different dance styles of hip-hop (shows
videos on how these steps are being executed)
3. The teacher now asks the students these following questions:
a. Do you agree that these steps are very familiar to you but you don’t know how
these are called?
b. Now that you know what these are, do you think you can guess correctly the
actions done during the previous activity?
D. Application
1. The teacher will now ask the students to group themselves into 5
2. Every group is requested to follow the teacher do the warm up first
3. Now, the teacher teaches some common hip-hop dance styles
4. Then, each group is now given an opportunity to create simple dance routine (2-3
minutes) applying common hip-hop dance styles like b-boying, popping, shuffling,
etc.
5. The teacher lets the students practice the steps in 20 minutes and reminds the class to
record their heartrate before and after the practice
E. Generalization
1. After practicing the teacher gives the students these questions to look forward on:
a. Did your heartrate increase after your practice?
b. What does it tell you?
c. What fitness components are being are being improved when you dance?
d. Did you have fun while doing the activity?
e. Why is it important to observe safety measures when dancing?
F. Evaluation
1. Now that the students practiced their dance routines, they will be performing it next
meeting using the criteria below.
2. The teacher reminds the students to record their heartrates before and after the
performance/practice, and write them down on their heartrate record notebook.
