Teacher preparation needed before activity presentation, i.e. mixing paint, cutting paper, construction of flannel
board characters, etc.
Collect Geo shapes
Makes copies of patterns and laminate
Teaching Sequence of the Learning Experience
Set-up and arrangement of materials and equipment
Have shapes out so all the children have access
Give each child a picture to try and make
Transition Planning: Describe how the children will transition into the learning experience. Transition into the activity
(preschool) OR Incorporation of individual child routines (infant/toddler).
I will ask the children if they want to build some pictures with shapes
We will identify the different shapes
Procedure: What is the teacher’s role (what will you do) during this learning experience? What will the children do
during the learning experience? (Remember children are active, hands-on learners!). List all the steps in your activity
using numbers or bullet points, including an introduction and conclusion.
Gather children at the table
Go over the different shapes
Explain the shapes and the pictures
Give each child a picture to build
Talk about how many/ what shapes they are using
Build their own picture
Clean up and identify one shape or their picture
Questions to support inquiry and discussion. Vocabulary words to introduce.
Children will pick up their pieces and explain what their picture was in the end.
Leave out for the children to play with inside.
