As of October 1, 2001, Ebara transferred its Fluid System
Engineering Division from the Environmental Engineering Group to
the Machinery & Equipment Group and changed the name of the
latter group to the Fluid Machinery & Systems Group. As a result,
Ebara is now prepared to offer a full range of products and ser-
vices, from individual equipment units to the engineering of full-
scale systems, on a global basis and is aiming to further expand
its comprehensive solutions services with the Fluid System
Engineering Division as the core.

As the activities of this group’s customers have become increas-
ingly sophisticated, the Environmental Engineering Group has sub-
stantially stepped up its activities to develop technologies that will
create the foundation for the Zero Emissions, “sustainable soci-
ety.” The Group handles a comprehensive range of equipment
and systems for processing wastes and generating energy and
is actively making proposals focused on regional communities
for optimal social infrastructure systems.

Although the investment plans of semiconductor manufacturers
have generally been cut back or postponed, Ebara’s customers
in this area are continuing their research on next-generation man-
ufacturing processes and the evaluation of related technologies
without interruption. The new technologies and systems of Ebara’s
Precision Machinery Group for next-generation semiconductor
products have received a uniformly high evaluation from customers.
Ebara’s New and Renewable Energy Group was formed in April
2002 to accelerate the development and commercialization of
technologies to make the Zero Emissions, “sustainable society”
a reality, including the development of fuel cells and wind power
generators.
