PROPOSAL FOR THE UNC DIAMOND OLYMPICS

Theme:

Be Strong. Be True. Believe.

Rationale:
It is a good marketing move to hype the UNC Diamond Olympics. First of all – because of the
event’s significance. A Diamond year is always an important milestone in a school’s history. It
should always be a cause of Celebration. Hyping the Diamond Olympics will draw attention to
UNC’s Diamond anniversary. The fact that it coincides with the Beijing Olympics makes the
Hype even more appropriate. It is a once in a life time coincidence which the school must
take advantage of.

Secondly, by marketing the Diamond Olympics, UNC will show that it is concerned with the
well physical well being of its students. After much publicity of its educational achievements
– this is a chance for UNC to show that it has an excellent athletic program.

Thirdly, by marketing the DIAMOND OLYMPICS, UNC will please its main sponsor SMART –
which has given the most generous sponsorship to a local business to date.

Date of implementation:

August 25 – September 7, 2008.
