COURSE ALIGNMENT OF GRADE 12 TVL STUDENTS OF MABALACAT

 Chapter 1
THE PROBLEM AND IT’S BACKGROUND

“President Benigno Aquino III on Wednesday, May 15, signed the Enhanced Basic
Education Act of 2013 into law, more commonly known as the K-12 program”

In other countries, education is part the country of their top priority to implement a better
system into a child’s future, advanced the learning systems and improves the country’s
academic curriculum. K-12 has been proven to be useful in preparing children prior to
college.

The K to 12 Program have been implemented throughout the year, in the year of 2012,
those incoming first grade students will study 12 years instead of 10 years basic
education. The first year high school students will undergo 6 years of studying instead
of 4 years (Department of Education).

For the 2 more years given in high school are added in the year 2016, there will be no
more a incoming freshmen. However in the year 2017, there will be no freshmen and
sophomore in tertiary level. The units and subjects that they will take in college will be
lesser.

K-12 program

- The k to 12 program covers 13 years of basic education with the following key
stages:
 Kindergarten to Grade 3
 Grades 4 to 6
 Grades 7 to 10 (Junior High School)
 Grades 11 and 12 (Senior High School)

Senior High School (SHS) students must pick among the four tracks. Students must
choose from the following tracks (Basic Education Act of 2013)

1. Academic Track
  General Academic (GA)
 Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS)
 Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
 Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM)
2. Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) Track

 Agri-Fishery Arts
 Home Economics
 Industrial Arts
 Information and Communications Technology (ICT)
2. Sports Track
Inside this strand it will help those SHS students who like sports-related and
physical fitness and safety knowledge. This strand will develop and prepared
student who wants to venture in athletics, fitness, and recreational activities.
3. Arts and Design Track
Inside this strand is perfectly suit for those students who want to enhance or hone
their skills in visual designs and performing arts as well.

The main objective of this study is to help everyone specifically the TVL students of
Mabalacat City College if their strand/track in senior high school will be align into their
course when they will study college.
