Dear Anneke
It was a real sorrow that I heard this morning of your great loss. I knew your father was ill, for your
brother told me several weeks ago. However, as he at that time did not seem to think the illness was
very serious, the news of your father’s death came to me as a shock. You have my sincere and heartfelt
sympathy, my dear fellow, in your sorrow. I know you will feel it deeply, for you always thought so much
of your father and loved him tenderly. I feel it also as a personal loss to myself, for your father was
always very kind to me. His death must be a terrible grief to your mother, too. Please assure her of my
sincere sympathy.
“There are no words. While you have joy knowing where your love is in a better place, there is sadness in
the loss and grief”. You are in our prayers. (Catherine Pulsifer). However, it is not just a lip service when
I say that I feel with you in your sorrow. Just come to me whenever you need me.

Your sincere friend,

Rani

MACHU PICCHU
Located in southern Peru, this ruined city lies on top of a
mountain that’s only accessible by train or a four-day trek.
Rediscovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911, it was an important
cultural center for the Inca civilization but was abandoned when
the Spanish invaded the region. (It is famously referred to as the
“Lost City of the Incas,” though that is actually Vilcabamba). The

location was made a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983, and it was named one of the New Seven
Wonders of the World in 2007. Concerns over growing numbers of tourists have led to limitations on how
many people can enter the site, though only by a fraction of what is necessary. Hopefully, they will limit it
even more so this site can last for hundreds of years more.
Machu Picchu is open year-round. The easiest way to get to from Cusco to Machu Picchu is to take the
train to Aguas Calientes (the town located a few miles from the site). It’s a scenic 3.5-hour trip each way
along tracks that run right along the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley, with dramatic canyon walls on
either side. The other way to get from Cusco to Machu Picchu is to walk as part of a multi-day Inca trail
tour, which is the far more scenic and rewarding way. My preferred tour company for that is Intrepid.

20. What is the benefit of reading the text?

I stayed at Traveler’s House in December and was really happy with the choice. The atmosphere was
very friendly and relaxing. I met lots of other travelers and it was nice to hang out in the common area
and swap stories about our adventures in Egypt. The staffs were really friendly and always on hand to
provide any information to make Egypt more accessible. They had lots of good ideas about places to go
and were well informed about how to best get around. The room was really large with high ceilings - it
was much bigger than I was expecting. All in all it was a great experience.
After visiting more than 20 hostels around the world in the last 14 months, I was eager to visit traveler’s
house hotel. I wasn't disappointed, friendly, enthusiastic young staff, unbeatable location, free towels,
free breakfast, free WIFI and all the little details lacking from most hostels. Other hostels might do
particular details better, this hostel is above average across the board. I don't give out 100% often, but
this one is well deserved.

Why Anger is Bad for Our Health

Expressed anger is not only damaging to our relationships, but also to our health. There are
specific conditions that anger creates within the human body that negatively affects our wellbeing.
These effects are usually said to be risks to our heart, an increase in anxiety, and a shorter lifespan.
Sometimes when we are angry, we can feel our heart pump harder. This is not coincidence. Most
physically damaging is anger’s effect on our cardiac health. In the two hours after an angry outburst,
the chance of having a heart attack doubles. It is amazing that just by getting angry, it can mean that
a heart attack is imminent.
Furthermore, anger is connected to increased anxiety. In fact, unresolved anger issues lead to
anxiety, which can have long-term effects on our life. Immediate effects of anxiety might include
dizziness, rapid breathing, nausea, muscle pain, muscle tension, headaches, and problems with
concentration and memory. Such symptoms can make it difficult to perform routine tasks and can add
to generalize anger about life. Not only does anger make us feel bad, it can also produce higher levels
of anxiety that is accompanied by many different symptoms.
And finally, anger affects how long we live. It has been shown that if we have repressed anger,
or passive anger, we can effectively shorten our lifespan. Studies have shown that those who hold in
their anger through many years have shorter lives.
Anger not only demonstrates its damage outwardly through the destruction of property and
people, but also inwardly. This menace causes us to have heart issues, a jump in anxiety, and even a
shorter life. Next time you get angry, keep these details in your mind.

Wyatt Hawn Russell, the only child of celebrated Hollywood actors Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, was
born on July 10, 1986, in Los Angeles, California.
A young Russell did appear in two of his dad's movies, Escape From L.A. (1996) and Soldier (1998), but
unlike his siblings, he had little interest in show business. Having fallen in love with hockey as a

and he finally called it quits after breaking his hip at age 24. Unsure of what to do next, he discovered a
love for film while rehabilitating, and decided to give the family business a try.
After a lifetime spent avoiding the celebrity spotlight, Russell gave in to the demands of his burgeoning
screen career and purchased a home in the L.A. community of Sherman Oaks in early 2018. He had

This text is for question 44 to 46

The Tetraodontiformes are an order of highly derived ray-finned fish, also called the Plectognathi.

The Tetraodontiformes are represented by 10 extant families and at least 349 species overall; most are
marine and dwell in and around tropical coral reefs, but a few species are found in freshwater streams
and estuaries. They have no close relatives, and descend from a line of coral-dwelling species that
emerged around 80 million years ago.
Various bizarre forms are included here, all radical departures from the streamlined body plan
typical of most fishes. These forms range from nearly square or triangular (boxfishes), globose
(pufferfishes) to laterally compressed (filefishes and triggerfishes). They range in size from Rudarius
excelsus (a filefish), measuring just 2 cm (0.79 in) in length, to the ocean sunfish, the largest of all bony
fishes at up to 3 m (9.8 ft) in length and weighing over 2 tonnes.
The tetraodontiform strategy seems to be defense at the expense of speed, with all species
fortified with scales modified into strong plates or spines — or with tough, leathery skin (the filefishes
and ocean sunfish). Another striking defensive attribute found in the pufferfishes and porcupinefishes is
the ability to inflate their bodies to greatly increase their normal diameter; this is accomplished by
sucking water into a diverticulum of the stomach. Many species of the Tetraodontidae, Triodontidae,
and Diodontidae are further protected from predation by tetrodotoxin, a
powerful neurotoxin concentrated in the animals' internal organs.
Tetraodontiforms have highly modified skeletons, with no nasal, parietal, infraorbital, or (usually)
lower rib bones. The bones of the jaw are modified and fused into a sort of "beak"; visible sutures divide
the beaks into "teeth". This is alluded to in their name, derived from the Greek words tetra meaning
"four" and odous meaning "tooth" and the Latin forma meaning "shape".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetraodontiformes, November 26th, 2018
44. What is the communicative purpose of the above text?
A. To conserve Tetraodontiformes.
B. To keep Tetraodontiformes at home.
C. To let Tetraodontiformes live freely.
D. To prohibit us to fish Tetraodontiformes.
E. To describe Tetraodontiformes in general.

and ask what we study at school, so it is very useful to improve our listening and speaking skills. It also
offers chances to discover the new cultures, way of thinking, history, custom and lifestyles.

Furthermore, we have opportunities to study the new technologies and most recent science
achievements. In addition, we are equipped with the valuable and updated knowledge which may help us
find jobs easily after graduating.

However, studying abroad is often expensive. We have to pay not only for our school fees but also for
our living cost. Therefore, finance may become the biggest problem. Consequently, it distracts our mind
from studying to earning money.

Last but not least, adapting to a new environment is e real challenge for every foreign student. While
changing the weather can affect our health, different cultures and customs may influence our mind and
make us become less confident or even a victim of discrimination. Every day may turn into a struggle for
survival in a strange country. If we don’t have enough physical and mental strength, we will fail to adjust
ourselves in the new environment. As a result, we could neither study nor gain beautiful experiences as
we have expected.

In conclusion, while studying abroad offers great opportunities for a better future, It also has challenges
that we must try our best to overcome what happened to make our dream come true. Therefore, if you
have a chance I think you should take that chance to study abroad.
