NONSTATE INSTITUTIONS

-the state is the institution whose functions are carried out by


the government. It’s primary functions are maintenance of peace and
order and the regulation and control of the lives of the people as well as
addressing the needs of the citizenry to a certain degree of social order
(Panopio, 1994).

*Non-Government organizations (NGO’s)


-also termed as non state institutions
-groups and institutions that are entirely or largely
independent from the government and characterized primarily by
humanitarian and cooperative rather than commercial activities.

1.) OPERATIONAL NGO’s- those whose


primary purpose is running or funding designed to contribute to
development, environmental management, welfare or emergency relief.

2.) ADVOCACY NGO’s- those whose primary


purpose is advocating a specific point of view or concern and which
seek to influence the policies and priorities of the WB (World Bank),
governments, and other bodies(World Bank, 1996).
