its establishment, organization structure and general operation of the library.
Tunku Tun Aminah Library UTHM began in 1993 with the name of “Pusat Latihan Staf

Library Automation system using VTLS (Virginia Technology Library Systems) is
implemented in the library in 1997. The name of the library had changed to “Kolej Universiti
Teknologi Tun Hussien Onn (KUiTTHO)” library in the year of 2000. Reading area had also

the same year. In 2002, the VTLS library management system was replaced to ILMU

Aminah Library by YAM Tunku Tun Aminah was made on 11 June 2013. The quantity of
books had increased to 200,000 books.

Trip Objective
One of the objectives of the trip to Tunku Tun Aminah Library UTHM is to get know more
details about general operation of library. We planned to know the details of the organization
structure of the library too. Next, we visited to Tunku Tun Aminah Library UTHM to learn
about the history and establishment of the library. Furthermore, we were there to explore the
facilities and service of the library.
Field Observation
During our visit, im noticed that the facilities of Tunku Tun Aminah Library had been
upgraded. The library café was renewed and the lifts were repaired and all well-functioned.
We took some photos of the library and tried the facilities provided in the library. Im also
interviewed the librarian, Mr Mohd Amin bin Amir about the general operation of Tunku Tun
Aminah Library UTHM. He told us about his daily routine and how the books are arranged in
the library.
However, the method of Tunku Tun Aminah Library UTHM used to arrange and manage the
books still not updated. They still needed human resources to take action on arranging books
instead of having an automated system. Some of the facilities in the library are old and
outdated. There is still improvement for them to upgrade their facilities as this could provide
a library with latest technologies for students in Universiti Tun Hussein Onn.
