Teaching as a Profession

Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions. It is not a convenient
stepping stone to a life work but rather, a field which is largely important and efficient as a life
work itself. Teaching as a profession stands on its feet, justifies its own and carries its own
reward while destiny waits at its feet. According to L.A Williams from the article The Teaching
as a Profession, “There is no sphere of human activity which teaching does not touch, no ability
for the development of which is not largely responsible, no realm of life or learning to which it
cannot give an open sesame.” The profession of teaching lays its claim for the consideration of
the fact that it deals with the making of life. Truly it’s noblest of them all but other than that;
there are lots of privileges that we can get from this profession.

Teaching comes with many of the additional benefits of most careers. This can vary
widely depending on where you work, but generally speaking, teachers are entitled to insurance
for themselves and their families. According to PhilStar global in the first week of this year,
public school teachers will receive additional net take-home pay and allowances starting January
2018. Based on the Magna Carta for Public School Teachers, Sec 1, is an act that promote and
improve the social and economic status of public school teachers, their living and working
conditions, their terms of employment and career prospects in order that they may compare
favorably with existing opportunities in other walks of life, attract and retain in the teaching
profession more people with the proper qualifications

It is being recognized that advance in education depends on the qualifications and ability
of the teaching staff and that education is an essential factor in the economic growth of the nation
as a productive investment of vital importance.
