Tips for Learning & Understanding Fluid Machinery

(and other Engineering Subjects)

1. #SoftSkillsMatter; #HomeWorkMatters; #NoChewandPour;

#TurnOffMobilePhones………….
2. Have access to the textbook and other authoritative archival resources
3. Take good notes in class
4. Participate in class discussions---ask questions that are relevant to the
subject matter
5. Approach the learning process by striving to know and understand the
Basic Principles of Science and Engineering
6. Do not commit “stuff” to memory—endeavor to understand the material
well---it is not hard!!!---lots of everyday examples around you
7. Bring in to this class materials you were taught in other classes such as
Physics, Statics, Dynamics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Behaviour of Real
Fluids, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, A Curious Mind, etc. etc.
8. READ, READ, READ assigned reading materials and more---understand
solution and solution methodologies in solving problems---BE AHEAD OF
THE CURVE
9. Use hours outside of class time of instructor to get better understanding of
materials discussed in class and also materials in the notes---these hours
will not be used for tutorial sessions
10. Begin work on homework (and work on other assignments) problems early
to promote the learning experience; DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE NIGHT
BEFORE DUE DAY TO WORK ON ASSIGNMENTS……
11.Copying (and not putting in the effort to understand and apply the
materials taught) from other classmates and other sources is an excellent
recipe to fail the course. Learn and understand the material from each
other but check with instructor when in doubt.
12. Keep your Critical Thinking cap on at all times!!!!!!
