Dúnadh scoile - Eolas do thuistí Rang 6

12 Márta 2020
A thuismitheoirí,

I am writing to you with details of arrangements for work during the school closure. With regard
to written work, assignments, etc., I do not expect that all the work outlined would be completed by the
time we return to school, it is simply a guide.

I would like the children to prioritise the following activities during the closure:
1. Fresh air/exercise
2. Reading!!! (Gaeilge/Béarla) - Tullamore library also have an app available called ‘Borrowbox’
where you can take out ebooks on a device using your normal library card.
3. Practising tin-whistle/instrument! :)
4. Helping out at home
5. Projects on areas of interest (they can submit online/create a poster on card)
6. Be creative! Write stories, poems, design cartoons, make music, bake, etc.
7. Watch some TG4/listen to Raidió na Gaeltachta.

Google Classroom:
As you are aware, we use a platform called GSuite in school, which allows us to use a suite of
apps to help us to complete schoolwork. We have lots of experience in using this platform, and it will be
very helpful to us during this closure, as I can upload work, set assignments, correct assignments, etc.
Work that can be completed online includes typing skills practise (typing.com), reading
comprehensions (readtheory.com), Maths skills (khanacademy.org) as well as writing
assigments/projects. The children generally use ‘World Book Online’ for research. At the minute, we are
working on our Clinical Trial entry for the START Competition in NUIG, and we can try and complete
some of that online too.
I am aware that not everyone will have access to fast WiFi, laptop, etc., therefore, online work is
totally optional.

I will have a list of work available for the children on Google Classroom soon. They are bringing
home some books tonight to use. If your child cannot access Google Classroom to see the list, please
email me at aoife.nifhlannagain@eriada.ie and I can send on the list of work.

A list of general ideas/resources will be uploaded onto the school website, and it can be
accessed at www.eriada.weebly.ie.

Le gach dea-ghuí,

Aoife Ní Fhlannagáin
Múinteoir Rang 6
