ABSTRACT

• Abstract: Anemia is a condition where the number of red blood cells is less than
normal or has a decrease in the number of red blood cells, the normal hemoglobin
level is 12 gr/dl. Anemia occurs a lot in the community, especially in adolescents and
pregnant women. Menstruation is one of the causes of adolescent girls having
anemia. The menstrual pattern is a series of menstrual processes consisting of the
menstrual cycle, the duration of menstruation and the amount of blood during
menstruation. The menstrual cycle is the time from the first day of menstruation until
the next menstrual period arrives. While the menstrual cycle in women normally
ranges from 21-35 days and only 10-15% have a 28-day menstrual cycle with a
duration of 3-5 days, some 7-8 days. Change pads every day 2-5 times. The purpose
of the study was to determine the relationship between menstrual patterns and Hb
levels in adolescent girls in SMA 9 in the city of Bengkulu. This study uses the
method of Cross-Sectional. The method of sampling in this study using a purposive
sampling technique with a study sample of 50 people. This research was conducted
on the date of February 20 to April 20, 2019, in the SMA 9 Kota Bengkulu. Analysis
using test Chi-Square (χ2), with a confidence level of 95% (α = 0.05) and obtained
results: 1. In the menstrual cycle p-value of 0.063> α (0.05) means that there is no
relationship between the menstrual cycle with levels Hemoglobin, 2. In the duration
of menstruation the value of p-value 0,000 <α (0,05) means that there is a
relationship between the duration of menstruation and levels Hemoglobin, 3. The
amount of blood during menstruation p-value 0,000 <α (0,05) meaning that there is a
relationship between the amount of blood during menstruation and levels
Hemoglobin.
