Dear Parent/Guardians,

Manheim Central is continuing to keep the safety and well-being of all learners and the Manheim Community at
the forefront of all decisions. Given the guidance from Governor Wolf and the PA Department of Public Health,
the Manheim Central School District will be closing school and all events this afternoon at 3:30 PM for
one week with the intent of reopening on Monday, March 23, 2020. We will be monitoring this on a daily
basis. The district will provide ongoing communication if there is a need for further cancellation of school for
students and staff beyond March 23rd. At this time, there is not a declaration for a State of Emergency that
applies to schools. Therefore, we potentially would need to make-up any missed school days according to our
inclement weather calendar.

At the time of this letter, please know that there have been no cases of COVID-19 reported in our district.

During the closure of school, all of our buildings will be closed to the public and will be going through a deep
cleaning process. This deep cleaning is a precaution to ensure that we are taking every proactive measure
possible.

At the time of this communication, we are exploring options to ensure all learners have access to quality
nutrition and educational resources. More details will be forthcoming regarding a specific plan for the
availability of meals and resources. This information will be linked to the homepage of our district website.

Our ultimate goal is to ensure the well-being of our learning community. The decision to close school is not
one that the District takes lightly and we recognize the potential hardships associated with this
decision. Nevertheless, the threat of COVID-19 warrants such decisive action for the overall health and well-
being of our community. Our District will continue to monitor the situation and will communicate via the
automated phone system and provide additional information as new details and updates become available.

Yours in Education,

Peter J. Aiken
