IN THE MATTER OF: Local County Government Operation During COVID-19 Pandemic
WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of the Judge-Executive, together with the Fiscal Court, to make certain that
the local county government operates in a responsible manner during times of crisis and public emergency;
and
WHEREAS, in order to heed the directions and recommendations of the Calloway County Health Department
and the Governor of Kentucky, and also taking into consideration the opinions of other local officials,
regarding the world-wide pandemic of the highly contagious COVID-19 virus; and
WHEREAS, being mindful of the local government of Calloway County's duty to provide appropriate services to
its citizens, but also of its duty to protect the health of its citizens.
BE IT HEREBY ORDERED that, at this time, the Calloway County Courthouse and the Calloway County/Miller
Courthouse Annex shall remain open to the public during regular business hours; however, for the protection
of the public and county employees, individuals exhibiting any of the common symptoms of the COVID-19
virus and individuals of advanced age or those who are otherwise especially susceptible to this virus are asked
to refrain from appearing in person in these locations.
BE IT HEREBY FURTHER ORDERED that, until such time as this Order is lifted, employees of the local
government of Calloway County may use paid sick leave or paid vacation, as defined in the County
Administrative Code, for the additional purpose of caring for sick or non-sick members of their immediate
family, and employees of the local government of Calloway County who are over sixty (60) years old or
otherwise especially susceptible to the COVID-19 virus may use such paid sick leave for the additional purpose
of limiting his/her interaction with the public, Furthermore, until such time as this order is lifted, employees
of Calloway County who have exhausted all of their paid sick leave may utilize leave without pay for the
additional purposes stated above.
BE IT HEREBY FURTHER ORDERED that elected county officials are encouraged to continue providing essential
public services during this time, however, each elected official is free to make his/her own determination as to
his/her office remaining open for public attendance.
