 I. "If You're Not the One" is a song by English singer Daniel Bedingfield. It was
released on 25 November 2002 as the third single from his debut studio album
Gotta Get Thru This (2002). The single entered the top 20 on the majority of
charts that it appeared on, including being a number-one hit in the UK Singles
Chart, and reaching number 15 in the United States.

II. The artist, Daniel John Bedingfield (born 3 December 1979) is a New Zealand-
English singer, songwriter and record producer. He is the eldest brother of fellow
singers Natasha Bedingfield and Nikola Rachelle. He was a judge on The X
Factor New Zealand in 2013.

III. Daniel Bedingfield revealed to VH1 (Music industry): "I did 'If You're Not The
One' because it’s so different to 'Gotta Get Through This.' I hope people can take
the journey that I took on the album around these different styles. I'm not a dance
artist, I'm not a ballad artist, I'm all of that, and I really want people to get that." In
addition, Daniel refuses to reveal who the inspiration was for this song, only
admitting that she was an ex-girlfriend. However, "If You're Not the One" is
written as a love ballad Bedingfield claims to have been inspired by the band
Westlife, when writing and recording the song. Bedingfield himself believes that
the song is "cheesy." Bedingfield admitted he began writing the song because he
realized that material he considered more "complex", was unlikely to get him a
record deal.

IV. The song describes as passionate, male vocals, mellow, melancholic,

bittersweet, longing, melodic, breakup, and love. When the song was released as
a single, it was picked up by radio stations. It was the most added pop song on
the radio for the week of 20 February 2003. In the US, the song was the most
added song in the Adult Contemporary market for the week of 7 April 2003.

V. I love this song because it reminds me that no matter how far or distant your love
once you knew that love, trust and being care is always present. There are times
we miss our love, and it’s our duty to take care, ourselves, because someone is
waiting and longing for us, in spite of that distance, a distant for good. I know
time will come you both destined to be with again. Therefore, stay alive and
LOVE. Love conquers all.
