How to build your own LMT Cable for DUS 31 and DUS 41

Abstract

The DUS 31 and DUS 41 have a combined Local maintenance terminal (LMT A
and LMT B) port in the front as opposed to DUL 20 that carries separate ports.
Without an adapter, it is only possible to access the LMT B port.

Application

This adapter is useful when accessing both the LMT A and LMT B port of the
DUS. LMT A will be used during scratch load scenarios where an IP address
needs to be defined in the eNodeB. This splitter adapter is used as a temporary
cable to get the node up and running.

The Digital Unit (DUL 20) in an RBS has two interfaces for a Local Maintenance
Terminal (LMT):

The serial port labeled LMT A

The Fast Ethernet port labeled LMT B

New Generation of Digital Units for the RBS6000 Family are the DUS 31 and
DUS 41; and they only have one LTM port, In order to connect to both LMTA and
LMTB is necessary to use the Ericsson LMT Splitter Cable LTY 151 1018/1.

Because this adapter is not included in the RBS6000 and must be ordered
separately for the DUS, sometimes will not be available and it’s necessary to find
a way to work around.

The Pin out of the LMT port is the following

2 (DB9) ---> 3 (RJ45)

You can recycle a Straight-Through Ethernet Cable T-568A or T-568B, by cutting
3 (DB9) ---> 2 (RJ45)
one RJ45 connector, and crimping two new RJ45 connector in the same end,
5 (DB9)following
---> 1 (RJ45)
the pin out described in the table above.

For example the most common straight-through Ethernet cable is the T-568B
