PISTOL SHOOTING

Feet / Leg

 Some priciples:
– the shoulder is in the direction of the shooting line
Precission Technique

– the head is turned towards the target

– Limited neck and collar-muscle-flexibility may

require to open up the shooting position slightly

5 Matthias Hahn 2014

PISTOL SHOOTING

Feet / Leg

 Some more priciples:

– The centre of gravity has to be in the centre of
the feet
Precission Technique

– The position has to be adjusted to individual

physiological charateristics

6 Matthias Hahn 2014

PISTOL SHOOTING

Feet / Leg

 Position of the feet:

– parallel and shoulder – wide
Precission Technique

– Feet 90 degree to the target

8 Matthias Hahn 2014

PISTOL SHOOTING

Feet / Leg

Knees should be straight, not bent, with light

muscle tension
 Recoil can be absorbed best
Precission Technique

 Longest possible sighting line

 Shoulder- and breast-muscles have similar
impact on arm

9 Matthias Hahn 2014

PISTOL SHOOTING

Body

 The upper body should be

upright and the bodyweight
should be distributed equally
on both legs
Precission Technique

The centre of gravity is in the

centre of the feet

In order to balance out the

weight of the pistol, the upper
body can slightly be bend
backwards. It should not go
too far, intervertebral discs
can be affected negatively!
10 Matthias Hahn 2014
PISTOL SHOOTING

Body

 The upper body

should not be twisted
Precission Technique

sidewards with the

hips

 Left and right

shoulder stay above
the feet.

Arm

 Arm streched out
straight
Precission Technique

 Shoulder in natural
position, not raised
 Non-shooting shoulder
relaxed and hanging
down
 Non-shooting arm well

Arm

Precission Technique

13 Matthias Hahn 2014

PISTOL SHOOTING

Head

The position of the head and thereby the

view on the sights has always to be similar
A straight head towards sights and target is
Precission Technique

crucial for an optimal visual acuity

The organ being responsible for the balance
is located in the ear. Any incorrect position of
the head requires extra attention to balance
the body

turning the head… ..make it horizontal… …almost perfect!

PISTOL SHOOTING

Head

 Why is my frontsight very

often disappearing to the left
after a while of shooting???
Precission Technique

Do I have to change the

grip???

 No, the solution is very

easy…

 …keep the head straight!!!

PISTOL SHOOTING

4 technical elements

Breathing - is giving the rhythm of the shot

Moving - upward movement – inhale
downward movement - exhale
Precission Technique

Aiming - the work of the eye - sighting

Triggering - the work of the trigger finger to
make the 10 into the 10

Coordination of all 4 technical elements

Coordination

In the overall coordination all 4 technical

elements will be linked in each phase one to
another.
Precission Technique

 During the training process individual

elements or phases have to be practised
thouroghly in order to get a high level of
automatism for the competition situation.
Only individual points are supported actively
by our thougts (self instructions).
