XXXXX is a student at CN XXXXXX, one of the most selective high schools in XXXXX Country with students

requiring a score of 9.10 in the Year 8 National Test to join our demanding mathematics-informatics set.
XXXX’s score was 9.83, ranking him as the third most able student we admitted in 2011 and 41st out of the
4,214 students in the county.

XXXXX is a student of whom we are particularly proud. He has certainly lived up to his early promise,
achieving constantly high academic grades and gaining an enviable track record of successes in national and
international programming competitions. His teachers regard him as a very reliable, organised and serious
student who relishes in tackling the most challenging exercises in all subjects. As a person, he is a quietly
confident and self-assured young man who possesses an excellent sense of humour and superb team-
working skills. His decision to study computer science did not come as a surprise to any of us and is one that
we support 100%. In the Diploma de Bacalaureat we expect him to achieve 9.6 as an overall grade with a
9.3 in Romanian Language and Literature.

In computer science, XXXXX shows a high interest and an undeniable passion that stands out among the
best students of his age in the city in the field of programming and algorithms. He has been a member of
our high school computer science club since the 9th grade. He has participated several times in
international programming competitions, especially the ACSL, where he earned 1st place twice (9th grade
and 11th grade), and the Computing Olympiad, in which he has always ranked in the top 10. Because of his
deep analytical thinking, he has manifested a special interest in applying what he has learned to other areas
and making connections between different disciplines. He has a great ability to concentrate and has proved
himself as an independent learner, as he studies not only the text covering the syllabus but also other
books and information related to the topics. I believe XXXXX should reach at least 9.8 in this subject in the
Bacalaureat exam.

In mathematics, XXXXX has a very comprehensive understanding of the subjects and has excellent analytical
skills. He will often come to class with very specific and insightful questions about what he was asked to do
in the homework. His questions very often propel the class’s understanding forward in important ways. He
has developed independent study skills and is often willing to do extra work on his own initiative. We
predict that he is very likely to achieve over 9.7 in mathematics in the Diploma de Bacalaureat.

I have known XXXXX for two years as his English teacher and have observed his fluency in speaking and
writing. His projects and assignments have always struck me as very mature and complex, and his role in
the class is that of a leader and initiator of new ideas and means of expression. He has constantly shown an
interest in my class, and it culminated with the passing of the CAE exam with flying colours. I believe that
XXXXX can obtain at least a score of 7 in the IELTS exam that he is planning to take this year.

XXXXX has been involved in a diverse range of extracurricular activities: he helped to edit the
school magazine along with being involved in the Radio Gaga radio programme, which was part of
an EU funded project. He was also our spokesperson for the Global Teenager Project, another
international event.
To sum up, we believe that XXXXX is an ideal candidate for higher education in the UK. He has a
very international outlook on life and will have no problems at all in quickly making friends and
adapting to life in Britain. His passion for computer science and his rare academic ability will make
him a valuable asset to any faculty fortunate to have him as a student. We therefore take very
great pleasure in strongly recommending him to you.
