SOP EAR IRRIGATION

Ear irrigation is a medical treatment that aims to clean the outer ear canal of debris and
foreign objects. Ear irrigation is an act by inserting liquid into the ear.

C. Preparation Tools

60 ml syringe size 18 or 20G

1 small bowl

Towels 1 piece (1 small towel)

Neirbekken 1 piece ( 1 nierbekken)

Otoscope 1 piece (1 otoscope)

Gloves 1 pair (1 pair gloves)

cotton/ tissue (not specific)

Cotton bud (not specific)

E. Work procedures

1.First, Explain the procedure to be performed and than Wash your hands

2. After that wear handscoon and position the patient side sleep or sit with his head tilt,
with a sore ear pointing upwards

3.put the towel on patient's shoulder

4.Clean the outside with cutton buds

5.Check the ears with an otoscope before take action ( reverse the 4th step and 5th step)
6.next,Fill the irrigation fluid (hidroegenperoksida / water) into the syringe to taste (i
dont get it, better to delete it)

7.Put nierbekken under the ear or ask the client to hold the nierbekken

8.Pull up the patient's earlobe and then backward, then with the other hand nurses push
the fluid to the upper wall of the ear canal (spraying fluids should slowly and precisely)

9.Repeat irrigation if there is still dirt

10.Dry your ears with cotton, put cotton in the ear 5 -10 minutes to absorb humidity

11.Trim the tools

12.take off the glove and put it into a nierbekken

13.the last, Wash your hands

2.Record the patient's response
