MUNICIPAL DISASTER RISKS REDUCTION MANAGEMENT OFFICE

Carranglan, Nueva Ecija 3123

Sir/Madam:

Greetings of love and peace!

I, Marion Reinz D. Malubag, student of Central Luzon State University-College of Engineering (CLSU-CEn)
taking-up Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a units titled “CENGR 522: Special Problems”, would
like to ask a permission to your good office to conduct my thesis study titled “Analysis of Slope Stability
against Rainfall- triggered Shallow Landslides along Maharlika Hi-way Carranglan, Nueva Ecija.”

I would like to ask your consent about this study to obtain and achieve the following data/objectives on the most
reliable sources:
1. Identify the area’s characteristics in terms of the steepness of terrains, available vegetation within the area
and site’s rainwater accumulation.
2. Analyze the terrain slope stability based on the data gathered and correlate this to the fore-mentioned area’s
characteristics.
3. Locate landslide prone areas to make the travelers and locals alert especially on rainy season.
4. Formulate possible solutions, addition to existing, in-line to the data gathered to make it more efficient in
remedial measure to stabilize terrain slope to help the locals to prevent or lessen the damages to lives and
properties when the landslides happened.
5. Construct a plan of an economic structures that could be used in mere future to mitigate the damages
caused by landslides such as retaining walls.
The main objective of this research is to determine and analyze the slope stability of orogenic belts against
rainfall-triggered shallow landslides to formulate an alternative mitigation technique to combat the risks of this
natural hazard to lives and properties.
I am looking forward for the acceptance of this request to materialize this study. Thank you very much and more
power to you and to your constituents. God bless you!

Respectfully your:

 Working Topic/Title:

ANALYSIS OF SLOPE STABILITY AGAINST RAINFALL-TRIGGERED SHALLOW

LANDSLIDES ALONG MAHARLIKA HI-WAY, CARRANGLAN, NUEVA ECIJA

 Research Objectives:
The main objective of this research is to determine and analyze the slope stability of orogenic belts
against rainfall-triggered shallow landslides along Maharlika Hi-way, Carrangalan, Nueva Ecija including the site
characterization such as rainwater accumulation and vegetations, to formulate an alternative mitigation technique
to combat the risks of this nature’s hazard to lives and properties.

 Specifically, the study will address the following:
