(Mother & Son)
Mother: OMG! WHAT A MESS IN YOUR BEDROOM?Me? I am making Puranpoli. Your brother’s
favourite. (Enters the bedroom) OMG! The mess he has made of your old room. Just don’t
know what to do. By the way Riu, how come you are calling me so early this morning? Didn’t go
to the office?
Riu: I’ve decided to leave my job, I’m quitting.
Mother: What? You quit your job? Means? How come? You were doing so well.....We were all
feeling so proud about your job. Now suddenly this? Riu...why?
Son: What happened?
Mother: Your sister is quitting her job.
Son: Why?
Mother: But Riu....household responsibilities are bound to increase after marriage. It’s not like
you are alone. Aakash is also there with you. He can also help with the household chores.
Right?
Riu: He doesn’t know any household work.
Mother: What do you mean he doesn’t know how to do household work? How can he not
know?
(Mother then glaring at his son over his mess & then she realizes on the same & tells Riu)
Mother: He might not know. The mistake is ours. We teach our daughters to stand on their own
feet. (Glaring at her son) But we don’t teach our sons to lend a hand. But you think about
quitting your job once more. Will call you at night.
Son: What happened Mom?
Son: What happened Mom?
Mother: (Keeping the basket of messed clothes in her son’s hand) I’ve been making a mistake.
It’s time to correct it. (Son realizes on what her Mom wish to say & take her son to the washing
machine area, son holding the basket of messed clothes & Mom teaching her son how to
accomplish this job)
