Biography:
Malala Yousafzai was born in the Swat Valley region of Pakistan on July 12, 1997. She lives in
the city of Mingora with her two younger brothers. His family practiced the religion of Islam
His father was a teacher. Many Pakistani girls did not attend school, but she did.
Malala loved to learn and go to school. She dreamed of one day becoming a teacher, doctor or
politician. She was a bright girl.
When Malala was ten years old, the Taliban invaded the region where she lived. They said
women should stay at home. If a woman left her house, she must wear a burqa and must be
accompanied by a male relative.
Women could not vote, have a job, go to the dance, watch TV, listen to music and closed
schools. Then Malala wrote a blog for the BBC and became famous.
The Taliban were not happy with Malala and shot him, but he survived.
. On her sixteenth birthday, Malala delivered a speech to the United Nations. In the speech he
talked about wanting all girls to receive education. I just wanted peace and opportunities for
everyone.
• It was named in honor of a famous Afghan poet and warrior named Malalai de Maiwand.
• Malala was the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. He was in chemistry class
when he found out.
• Kailash Satyarthi shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Malala. He fought against child labor and
slavery in India.
• He once said: "When everyone is silent, even one voice becomes powerful."
