Accountability
Prof: Dr. Philip Cordova Cuizon
According to the author accountability is usually used to denote personal responsibility for
getting desired results. T's an admirable idea, and all good managers and leaders want their
people to be "accountable". Of course, accountability doesn't apply only to rank and file
employees. Managers and leaders should be accountable for holding others accountable.
The example on accountability based on the article is about the work or office works of mangers
and leaders with mutual respect and mutual purpose that comes a willingness to account for one's
own performance. This includes accepting responsibility for a personal performance shortfall as
well as accepting credit for performance triumphs. It helps to be explicit about what kind of
performance they stand for and what they will not stand for and they accountable for holding
others accountable.
The importance of accountability is the responsibility of being accountable based on the article
because accountability is a "key ingredient" in any success, but it seems to be one that people
have must difficulty with. When we accept accountability, we put ourselves in a position where
we can make the necessary changes to be successful, whereas when we look to blame it
disempowers us. It is important because the more accountable we can be, the more accountable
"the teams" will become and the more success we can achieve. It is important to be a business's
success as a whole. In order to achieve the goals, it is important that all people work together and
share accountability to become more accountable.
