Stanley Yates - Arranging Bach (Intro)
Stanley Yates - Arranging Bach (Intro)
Articles
The first version of this article was written in 1993, during my time as a doctoral student at the
University of North Texas. It must have been associated with a doctoral theory class, though I don't
recall which one. I presented the article as a lecture recital at the GFA convention in Northridge in
1995, which led to several offers to publish and record my arrangements of the unaccompanied cello
suites. Subsequent versions have been published as follows:
"La música de Bach para cuerda sin acompañamiento: Un nuevo (viejo) enfoque
idiomático y estilíistico de las transcripciones para guitarrra." 8 Sonoro, Spain
(September, 1999)
The article also appears as part of the more extended discussion contained in my edition of the
unaccompanied cello suites (Mel Bay Publications).
