Software-Defined Networking (SDN)

Software_ Defined Networking(SDN) is a technology provide a method to

configure and manage physical and virtual network devices such as routers,
switches and programmatically efficient in order to improve performance and
monitoring making it more like cloud computing then traditional network
management.

Application of SDN:

 SDMN

Software Defined Mobile network (SDMN) is a technology is to be designed with

all specific protocol features use in both hardware and software core network
and Radio access network.

 SD_WAN

An SD_WAN is a wide area network which is to be used on the principle of

Software_ Defined Networking.WAN is the main driver of SD_WAN which is
available as a partial replacement of more expensive MPLS Lines.

 SD_LAN

SD_LAN is setup with principle of Software_ Defined Networking (SDN)

SD_LANs are made by their uses of Cloud Management System and wireless
connectivity with the presence of physical controller. In SD_LAN though there
are the key difference in topology networking security, application visibility
and control management and quality of services.
THE BASIC OF SDN AND THE OPENFLOW NETWORK ARCHITECTURE

In recent few years, it has seen that such a number of traffic has been
increased in carrier network. Network Operators today need to manage with a

Vast orderly arrangement data formats, services types and of course ensuring
availability, security, quality of services all without increasing operating and
tools costs.

Software_Defined Network allows networks to react dynamically to change

use in patterns and availability of network resources.SDN provides separation
between the control planes (Controller) and data plane (switch) functions of
networks using a protocol that modifies forwarding tables in network
switches.SDN separates the control of network devices from the data they
transport, and the switches software from the actual network hardware.

 OPENFLOW
Open flow protocol that interface between an open flow controller and an
open flow switch. The open flow protocol allows the open flow controller
to instructions the open flow switch on how to handle incoming data
packets.
 The open flow switch may be programmed to;
1. Identify and categorize packets from an issue port based on a various
packets header fields;
2. Processing the packets in different ways, including modifying the
headers; and
3. Drop or push the packets to a particular egress port or to the open flow
controller the open flow instructions transmitted from an open flow controller
to “Flows” Each individual flow contains packets match fields, flow priority,
different counters, packet processing instructions, flow timeout and cookie.
An incoming packets flow in multiple “Pipelined” tables before exiting on an
different port.

The open flow controlled may be programmed to;

 The open flow controlled is the “Brain” of SDN network

 The SDN controller relays information to the switches/routers
And the application to the business logic(northbound APIs)
 In open flow controller create a central point to oversee a variety
Of open flow enabled network components.
