Importance of CSR
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) plays a major role in
developing theeconomy of a country. It can be defined as the
way in which a company manages various business entities to
produce an impact on the society.
Companies with high CSR standards are able to demonstrate
their responsibilities to the stock holders,employees, customers,
and the general public.
Awareness of csr among business houses, corporate bodies, and
the people. Versatile,profitable, and dynamic businesses are the
driving forces that build the economy of the country. We must
remember that the growth of a country purely depends on the
growth of the society and the people in the society.
Benefits of CSR
Organizations of all sizes are rapidly discovering that Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainable business practices
can foster improved green programs and overall environmental
stewardship.
Increasing awareness and active participation by business
professionals in the development of CSR policies., is reducing
waste, designing green buildings, implementing green
operations and maintenance plans — all have continually proven
to yield a positive return on investment (ROI).

History:
Infosys was established by seven engineers in Pune,
Maharashtra, India with an initial capital of $250 in 1981. It
was registered as Infosys Consultants Private Limited on 2 July
1981.In 1983, it relocated its office to Bangalore, Karnataka,
India.
The company changed its name to Infosys Technologies Private
Limited in April 1992 and to Infosys Technologies Limited
when it became a public limited company in June 1992. It was
later renamed to Infosys Limited in June 2011.
An initial public offer (IPO) in February 1993 with an offer
price of ₹95 (equivalent to ₹510 or US$7.20 in 2018) per share
against book value of ₹20 (equivalent to ₹110 or US$1.50 in
2018) per share was undersubscribed but it was "bailed out" by
US investment bank Morgan Stanley, which picked up 13% of
equity at the offer price.
In 2012, Infosys announced a new office in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, to serve Harley-Davidson, being the 18th
international office in the United States.
Infosys hired 1,200 United States employees in 2011, and
expanded the workforce by an additional 2,000 employees in
2012.
In April 2018 Infosys announced expanding in Indianapolis,
Indiana.
The development will include more than 120 acres and is
expected to result in 3,000 new jobs—1,000 more than
previously announced.
In July 2014, Infosys started a product subsidiary called
EdgeVerve Systems, focusing on enterprise software products
for business operations, customer service, procurement and
commerce network domains.
In August 2015, the Finacle Global Banking Solutions assets
were officially transferred from Infosys and became part of the
product company EdgeVerve Systems product portfolio.

Our goals include the following:

1 Hunger, Infosys will work with various non-profit organizations that run mid-
poverty, day meal programs in schools across India and may establish kitchens
malnutrition that provide meals to schoolchildren.

2 Education Infosys’ focus on education will be on two fronts:
(a) To train students from under privileged backgrounds in its various

infrastructure. Sponsor chairs and create endowment funds for the
colleges/universities to assist students with their studies.
3 Rural We believe that the well-being of people living in rural areas ensures

achieve community development goals. We will partner with
governments and NGOs and support them in improving infrastructure
such as constructing roads, providing drainage systems and electricity,
and rehabilitating natural-disaster- affected victims in rural areas.

Destitute Care
o The foundation supports programs of NGOs in rural areas across

o The foundation provides vocational training to help the destitute

Rural Development
o The foundation undertakes programs to improve the
welfare of people in rural India and has donated more than
40 crore rupees for rural development and livelihood
