Introduction

 Corporate social responsibility is basically a concept whereby


companies decide voluntarily to contribute to a better society
and a cleaner environment.
 Corporate social responsibility is represented by the
contributions undertaken by companies to society through its
business activities and its social investment. This is also to
connect the Concept of sustainable development to the
company‘s level.
 Over the last years an increasing number of companies
worldwide started promoting their Corporate Social
Responsibility strategies because the customers, the public and
the investors expect them to act sustainable as well as
responsible.

 Importance of CSR
 Corporate social responsibility (CSR) plays a major role in
developing theeconomy of a country. It can be defined as the
way in which a company manages various business entities to
produce an impact on the society.
 Companies with high CSR standards are able to demonstrate
their responsibilities to the stock holders,employees, customers,
and the general public.
 Awareness of csr among business houses, corporate bodies, and
the people. Versatile,profitable, and dynamic businesses are the
driving forces that build the economy of the country. We must
remember that the growth of a country purely depends on the
growth of the society and the people in the society.
 Benefits of CSR
Organizations of all sizes are rapidly discovering that Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainable business practices
can foster improved green programs and overall environmental
stewardship.
 Increasing awareness and active participation by business
professionals in the development of CSR policies., is reducing
waste, designing green buildings, implementing green
operations and maintenance plans — all have continually proven
to yield a positive return on investment (ROI).
 The potential benefits of CSR to companies include:

 About CSR and INFOSYS


 Infosys has been an early adopter of CSR initiatives. The
company implements social development projects primarily
through its CSR trust, the Infosys Foundation established in
1996.
 The CSR works are towards supporting projects in the area of
education, eradication of hunger and malnutrition, art and
culture, healthcare, destitute care and rehabilitation,
environmental sustainability, disaster relief and rural
development.
 The Foundation primarily works with non-governmental
organizations as the nodal agency for implementing projects.
 This year, the foundation’s programmes extended to most of the
states, with an emphasis on expanding reach to create deeper
impact while ensuring focus on key area of development.
 The major works of the Foundation’s works included the
introduction of Aarohan Social Innovation Awards, restoration
of water bodies in Karnataka, supporting the construction of a
metro station in partnership with Bangalore Metro Rail
Corporation Limited, enabling the pursuit of access and
excellence in sports through the GoSports Foundation, and relief
efforts in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.

 Statement of the problem


CSR are very useful to draw the conclusion so management wants to
know what are the factor contributing for the future growth and also
wants to maintain the same in the longer run and also improve the
profitability and GOOD corporate image and Citizenship of the
organization.
SWOT analysis of company giving better idea about company and its
strength and opportunity.

 Research problem
To know the Non financial performance of the organization through
CSR analysis, by comparing years wise financial and non financial
date with performance of the company.

 Purpose of the study


A company’s balance sheet and profit & loss accounts are valuable
information sources for identifying risk taking and assessing risk
management effectiveness.
Although amounts found on these statements does not provide
valuable insights of performance so Financial and non financial
analysis is required for determining good or bad performance of
company and also fordetermining its causes.
The study gives considetatiom to several aspect like
environmental,social and sustainability. It compares financial
statements and Sustainable report of the company to know its
performance in these different years.
 Scope of the study
The study has been framed to analyis intergration of society and
business from years to year basis and with other firms. It is an
attempt to understand the financial & Non financial parameter and
know how the items of the financial statements are interlinked and
bear an influence on each other. Impact on society and environment.
The present study is an endeavor to have a comprehensive
understanding of the financial statements and CSR and sustainable
reporting of Infosys.

o Primary data: Additional information was given by the
Manager finance and other different department such as
personnel, CSR Dept. executive etc.

o Secondary data: The source of information was


secondary. Most of the information was made available
through the annual reports of the company, websites and
stability report ,Media report and different publication of
Journal.

o Theoretical help was derived from some books and


magazines and past reports and records.

o Support from internet and other journals were also derived.

 History:
 Infosys was established by seven engineers in Pune,
Maharashtra, India with an initial capital of $250 in 1981. It
was registered as Infosys Consultants Private Limited on 2 July
1981.In 1983, it relocated its office to Bangalore, Karnataka,
India.
 The company changed its name to Infosys Technologies Private
Limited in April 1992 and to Infosys Technologies Limited
when it became a public limited company in June 1992. It was
later renamed to Infosys Limited in June 2011.
 An initial public offer (IPO) in February 1993 with an offer
price of ₹95 (equivalent to ₹510 or US$7.20 in 2018) per share
against book value of ₹20 (equivalent to ₹110 or US$1.50 in
2018) per share was undersubscribed but it was "bailed out" by
US investment bank Morgan Stanley, which picked up 13% of
equity at the offer price.
 In 2012, Infosys announced a new office in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, to serve Harley-Davidson, being the 18th
international office in the United States.
 Infosys hired 1,200 United States employees in 2011, and
expanded the workforce by an additional 2,000 employees in
2012.
 In April 2018 Infosys announced expanding in Indianapolis,
Indiana.
 The development will include more than 120 acres and is
expected to result in 3,000 new jobs—1,000 more than
previously announced.
 In July 2014, Infosys started a product subsidiary called

 In India, shares of Infosys are listed on the BSE where it is
included in BSE SENSEX and NSE where it is included in CNX

 Infosys Limited (‘Infosys’ or ‘the Company’) has been an early


adopter of Corporate Social Responsibility (‘CSR’) initiatives.
 Along with sustained economic performance, environmental and
social stewardship is also a key factor for holistic business
growth.
 It has established the Infosys Foundation in 1996 as a not-for-
profit nodal body aimed at providing a dedicated approach to
community development and also to fulfil our CSR
commitments.
 Infosys Foundation works towards removing malnutrition,
improving healthcare infrastructure, supporting primary
education, rehabilitating abandoned women and children, and
preserving Indian art and culture.
 Infosys Foundation partners with non-government
organizations (NGOs) to make a difference among local
communities.
 The Company’s focus has always been to contribute to the
sustainable development of the society and environment, and to
make our planet a better place for future generations.

 OBJECTIVES:

Infosys CSR Policy intends to:


 Strive for economic development that positively impacts the
society at large with minimal resource footprint.

encourage a positive impact through its activities on hunger,
poverty, malnutrition, environment, communities, stakeholders
and the society.

activities.

colleges/universities to assist students with their studies.
3 Rural We believe that the well-being of people living in rural areas ensures

achieve community development goals. We will partner with
governments and NGOs and support them in improving infrastructure
such as constructing roads, providing drainage systems and electricity,
and rehabilitating natural-disaster- affected victims in rural areas.

The responsibilities of the CSR Committee include:
• Formulating and recommending to the Board of
Directors the CSR Policy and indicating activities to be
undertaken,
• Recommending the amount of expenditure for the CSR
activities, and
• Monitoring CSR activities from time to time

 GOVERNANCE

 The Company through a registered trust or a registered society


can undertake CSR activities as per the provisions of the
Companies Act, 2013.
 Accordingly, Infosys Foundation or such other entity will work
closely with and support the Board and the CSR Committee in
implementing CSR activities of the Company.
 Infosys Foundation or such other entity will assist the CSR
Committee in identifying the areas of CSR activities, programs
and execution of initiatives as per defined guidelines.
 Infosys Foundation or such other entity will also assist the
Board and the CSR Committee in reporting the progress of
deployed initiatives and in making appropriate disclosures
(internal/external) on a periodic basis.

 FUNDING, SELECTION AND MONITORING PROCESS

 Infosys Foundation or such other entity will receive requests for


funding of projects throughout the calendar year.
 Its panel of experts will evaluate proposals received under the
Foundation’s focus areas and projects will be prioritized by
assessing their impact.
 The Foundation or such other entity will then forward its
recommendations to the CSR Committee.
 The CSR Committee will deliberate on the proposals and
approve proposals for implementation at its discretion.
 Infosys representatives and/or Infosys Foundation or such other
entity will collaborate with stakeholders to monitor the status of
each project and will report its findings to the CSR Committee
periodically.

CSR activities of Infosys

 FOCUSED AREAS:
In accordance with the requirements under the Companies Act,
2013, Infosys CSR activities, amongst others, will focus on:
HUNGER, POVERTY, MALNUTRITION AND HEALTH:
Eradicating extreme hunger, poverty and malnutrition, promoting
preventive healthcare and sanitation and making available safe
drinking water.
 RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS:

o Strengthening rural areas by improving accessibility,


housing, drinking water, sanitation, power and
livelihoods, thereby creating sustainable villages.

 GENDER EQUALITY AND EMPOWERMENT OF


WOMEN:

o Promoting gender equality and empowering women;


setting up homes, hostels and day care centers for
women and orphans;
o Setting up old age homes and such other facilities for
senior citizens; and
o Adopting measures for reducing inequalities faced by
socially and economically backward groups.
 ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

o Ensuring environmental sustainability, ecological


balance, protection of flora and fauna, animal welfare.
o Agro-forestry, conservation of natural resources and
maintaining the quality of soil, air and water.

 NATIONAL HERITAGE, ART AND CULTURE:

o Protecting national heritage, art and culture including


restoration of buildings and sites of historical
importance and works of art;
o Setting up public libraries; promoting and developing
traditional arts and handicrafts.

 EDUCATION:

o Promoting education, including special education and


employment-enhancing vocational skills especially
among children, women, elderly and the differently
abled, and livelihood enhancement projects;
o monetary contributions to academic institutions for
establishing endowment funds, chairs, laboratories, etc.,
 IMPLEMENTATION OF CSR ACTIVITIES

 Infosys will undertake its CSR activities, approved by the


CSR Committee, through the Infosys Foundation or such
other entity/organization as approved by the CSR
Committee.
 The surplus arising out of the CSR activities, projects or
programs shall not form part of the business profit of the
Company.
INFOSYS FOUNDATION

 Infosys Foundation is a non-profit organisation based in


Karnataka, India, established in 1996 by Infosys to support
the underprivileged sections of society to undertake CSR
obligation under Companies Act,2013.
 The foundation supports programs in the areas of
education, rural development, healthcare, arts and culture,
and destitute care.
 Its mission is to work in remote regions of several states in
India.
 The foundation is solely funded by Infosys, and no external
donations are accepted.
 The foundation is headed by Sudha Murty, the wife of
Infosys founder Narayana Murthy.

 Aarohan Social Innovation Awards:


o Aarohan Awards is a platform provided by Infosys
Foundation to give scalable ideas with working prototypes
the impetus and mentoring they deserve.
o The objective of Aarohan is to accelerate innovation, and
scale the impact of relevant ideas.
 Flood and cyclone relief – Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil
Nadu:
o In August 2018, the state of Kerala was battered by
heavy monsoon rainfall, 75% more than usual, and
suffered the worst floods in nearly a century.
o Infosys Foundation has always been at the
forefront of relief operations in times of disaster
and soon swung into action when the 2018 floods
struck.
o Working along with partner organizations and
Infosys volunteers, the Foundation was able to
provide vast amounts of relief materials, medicines
and cleaning kits to help rehabilitate areas faster.
o The Foundation repeated the effort when Cyclone
Gaja hit the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu in
November.
o In Kerala, the Foundation worked closely with the
Deseeya Sevabharathi Keralam and Sri
Ramakrishna Sevashrama in distributing the
material. The Foundation also partnered with the
Sevashrama in the Kodagu and Tamil Nadu relief
operations.

 ACTIVITIES OF FOUNDATION

 Healthcare

o The foundation advances healthcare by augmenting existing


healthcare infrastructure, access to primary healthcare,
awareness of basic hygiene, and treatment of underprivileged
patients, and has donated more than 50 crore rupees to expand
the capacity of hospitals across India.

o The foundation has constructed hospital wards and built


dharmashalas (rest houses) at the National Institute of Mental
Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) in Bangalore.

o The Foundation has also donated medicines and medical


equipment to hospitals, in addition to organising health camps in
rural India.
 Education

o The foundation partners with schools in rural India to


enhance education and library facilities, and promotes
primary education among underprivileged children.

o The foundation has donated significantly to various


educational institutes in India, such as the Chennai
Mathematical Institute, and the Indian Institute of Science.

o The foundation promotes traditional art, dance and craft.

o Infosys Foundation contributed 70 lakh rupees for the
academy established by the Bhavan's Tiruchi Kendra.
Underprivileged and talented young artists will be
promoted by the bhavan by providing them a platform.

 Destitute Care
o The foundation supports programs of NGOs in rural areas across
India.
o The foundation provides vocational training to help the destitute
to live with dignity and earn a livelihood, and partners with
NGOs to support destitute children and women.

 Rural Development
o The foundation undertakes programs to improve the
welfare of people in rural India and has donated more than
40 crore rupees for rural development and livelihood
projects such as awareness campaigns on hygiene,
sanitation, vocational training and entrepreneurship,
o The foundation works with local administration to achieve
community development goals. The foundation constructs
roads, provides drainage systems and electricity, and
rehabilitates flood-affected victims in rural areas.

Goals

 The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise


known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to
end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that everyone
can enjoy peace and prosperity.
 These 17 goals build on the successes of the Millennium
Development Goals, while including new areas such as
climate change, economic inequality, innovation,
sustainable consumption, peace and justice, among other
priorities.
 The goals are interconnected; often, the key to success on
one will involve tackling issues more commonly associated
with another.
 Infosys’ commitment to sustainable development is well-
articulated in its vision to earn the respect of all its
stakeholders including investors, clients, employees,
suppliers, government and the larger community. This
vision has been the cornerstone of the Company’s

 Our panel of experts evaluate proposals in the
areas of culture, destitute care, education,
healthcare, and rural development.
 We prioritize projects by assessing their impact,
and match funding requirement with availability
of funds in our corpus.
 The Foundation collaborates with stakeholders
to monitor the status of projects.
 The aim of this document is to align the Infosys
Foundation’s projects to the SDGs.
