Objective: To identify the verb(s) in the sentence.

Directions: Every sentence has at least one subject and at least one verb. The subject in each sentence is already underlined. Find all the verbs and all parts of
each verb, and put V above them. Look at the examples before you begin.

1 The municipal auditorium is located on the shores of Town Lake.

3 There are several new apartment complexes west of the university.

Objective: To identify the possible functions of a word.
Directions: Many words in English can function in more than one way while other words can have only one function.
(I) Put a check (/) beside words that are always verbs.
(II) Put an X beside words that are never verbs.
(III) Put two checks (//) beside words that can function both as a verb and as another part of speech (noun, adjective, etc.). Check your dictionary.
