Materials: Large 3-ring Binder - Get the biggest one you can find!
Hand-out materials - An amalgam of cases, forms and informative
materials on how to understand and practice immigration law. These go in
the binder. They are paginated sequentially, 1, 2, etc.. These are called
“Things”.
COURSE
OBJECTIVE: An examination of substantive and procedural aspects of U.S. Immigration
and Nationality Law. A practical analysis of immigration law with an
emphasis on attorney-client relationships. Hopefully, I can show you how
to be an effective advocate for immigrants and think like a lawyer. The
focus will be on representing the undocumented before administrative
agencies, and in the immigration and federal courts.
FORMAT: Lecture and dialog. There will be role-playing with respect to client
interviewing. Everyone must do this, either as a lawyer or client. I am
interested in your ideas and questions. No question is ever bad.
TESTS: We will have a three hour examination at the end of the course. You can
bring anything you want to the exam.
I will make myself available before and/or after every class for any questions you may
have. Usually, you can find me in the library or a local coffee shop. Other times can be arranged
upon request or you can email me or call me on the telephone. A copy of my resume is enclosed
for your information.
