How To Write Physics Practical File?

Dear Students
In your Practical File you have 2 pages:
i) Plain Page
ii) Lining Page
Procedure/Instructions:
1. In an Experiment we have to write Following things:
i) Aim
ii) Material required
iii) Theory
iv) Theory diagram (If any)
v) Diagram
vi) Procedure
vii) Observation table
viii) Calculation
ix) Result
x) Result graph (If required)
xi) Precautions
xii) Source of error
2. On PLAIN page, you have to write (WITH PENCIL) following things:
i) Aim
ii) Theory diagram (If any)
iii) Diagram
iv) Observation table
v) Calculation
vi) Result graph (If required)
3. On LINING page, you have to write (WITH PEN) following things:
i) Aim
ii) Material required
iii) Theory
iv) Procedure
v) Result
vi) Precautions
vii) Source of error

e.g.
4. List of experiments, you have to complete:
a) Experiment 1. Studying the dependence of potential difference (V) across a resistor on the
current (I) passing through it and determine its resistance. Also plotting a graph between V
and I.

b) Experiment 2(i). Determination of the equivalent resistance of two resistors when connected
in series.

c) Experiment 2(ii). Determination of the equivalent resistance of two resistors when

connected in parallel.

d) Experiment 3. Determination of the focal length of: i) Concave mirror ii) Convex lens
by obtaining the image of a distant object.

e) Experiment 4. Tracing the path of a ray of light passing through a rectangular glass slab for
different angles of incidence. Measure the angle of incidence, angle of refraction, angle of
emergence and interpret the result.

f) Experiment 5. Tracing the path of the rays of light through a glass prism.

g) Experiment 6. Finding the image distance for varying object distances in case of a convex
lens and drawing corresponding ray diagrams to show the nature of image formed.

5. You have to just write these experiments in your physics practical file

6. Do not fill any reading in Observation table, but complete it without readings.

7. We will do all the experiments in school lab and there you have to take readings and then complete your
observation table.

8. You have to purchase a simple practical file of Rs. 30 or 40.

9. I will provide you written material for all the experiments. But if you have any other source (like If, you
are having lab manual etc then you can write from there also)

10. Some students already submit their blank file. In that case, you have to purchase new file.

11. Old file will be used later as revision notebook.

12. Do not use black pen or any other colour.

13. Cover your file with brown paper, paste a sticker on it and fill all the known details (e.g. name, class etc).

14. You have to complete these experiments in one week (i.e. from 23 march 2020 to 29 march 2020).

15. I will discuss theory part of these experiment after 29 march 2020, during online classes only.

16. File should be neat and clean with proper diagram and graph.

17. Do not write any date of experiment.
