No. Even though I noticed some students not practicing the school's way of
greeting (especially with the school guards), I prefer to still practice it and try to
become an example to students, especially those in lower batches.

7. Do you think that if the school's practices such as the Lapiscian Way of Greeting
will fade away, the school's recognition will be affected? How?
Yes. The school's greeting has already been our trademark other than being a
science high school.

Yes, I know and yes I also follow this practice outside the school because I’m
used to greeting people with it.

3. Why do you keep on following this way of greeting? If not, why are you not following

I got used in doing this way of greeting teachers, school staffs, etc. It also
symbolizes or somewhat represents Lapiscians.

as their way of greeting. The school is more recognized on how students
perform excellently on academics or extracorricular activities.

Respondent 4: Grade 12

1. Amongst other public high schools, Las Piñas Science has its practice of bowing
down when greeting a teacher, do you think that it's okay to do this? Why do you think
so?
I think that the Lapiscian way of greeting is a gesture that has many
symbolisms. Since LPSci is known for its close proximity to the bambusetum of
Las Piñas like the tall grass we are flexible and adopt to bow down to the
strong winds. Like our motto a bright mind is nothing without a humble heart
bowing down to our school staff shows our respect to them.

2. Do you know that it is also done to greet visitors, parents, and the school staff in or
out of the school? If so, do you follow these practices outside the school and why? If
not, why aren't you aware of it?
Yes, it actually has developed to become a habit of mine that I’ve developed it
seems like my time at school has a way of interweaving with the life outside of
school and bowing has been my way of acknowledging and greeting other
people above me.

3. Why do you keep on following this way of greeting? If not, why are you not following
or doing it inside or outside the school?
It actually started in grade 7 back when we were told it was mandatory for us
to do this overtime though it has been my way of showing respect and
acknowledging the teachers and other staffs.

4. Do you think that this way of greeting is important in our school, why? What are
your reasons for following or not following it?
Yes, it is important to our school since it has been sort of a trademark for
Lapiscians other school official admire our students for this act since they feel
like this act is very respectful to them. My reasons for following it is because it
shows respect and it keeps the Lapiscian tradition alive.
5. Do your friends, peers, or schoolmates affect your views on our school's way of
greeting? How?
I would have to say that I was lucky enough to be surrounded with a set of
friends that agree with my views therefore we all agree in the importance of
bowing down to greet our teachers and school staff.

6. Do you think that your environment or what you observe on your surroundings
affect how you view or do the school's way of greeting? How?
I would say that no actually since I’ve observed that some students are losing
their touch to this act and they would rather not do this despite this I remain
loyal to my principles and continue bowing down to my teachers.

7. Do you think that if the school's practices such as the Lapiscian Way of Greeting
will fade away, the school's recognition will be affected? How?
Yes, I think that besides being a trademark to the school it also shows how
Lapiscians value their superiors and if this will fade away it may also mean that
the new Lapiscian generation will have lesser value towards their teachers.
