‘To Whom It May Concern:
My first question is; where is all this leading, specifically, a traumatic incident
happened almost 40 years ago. What is the purpose of reliving it over again? I for
one do not wish to relieve something which causes me mental anxiety each time it
comes to the forefront of my mind. Let a “dead horse” rest in peace.
Iwas manning the AN/WLR-1 position in RR-2 immediately after the first strafe
attack. Prior to the attack (cartier in the day — before 12:00 Noon) I was tracking
“highly mobile” X- Band radars, which were identified as “Friendly EOB” contacts.
recorded some VHF “voice traffic”, because it was identified as “good stuff” by a
linguist (Hebrew), PO2 Fisenburg. He became a casualty. I do not believe a T.K
would be used as a surface contact radar system since it was manufactured by the
late Soviet Union and it is doubtful the ILA or LA.F. would have access to it, and that
is not its purpose. The recordings of the VHF voice traffic were duplicated by me
upon the request of some “kaki sackers” from D.C. when they inspected the spaces
after our arrival in Malta. To this day I do not know how they may have been
utilized or dispatched.
VQ-2 had a bird in the air orbiting the area during this incident. Why don’t you
contact the AES (Airborne Electronic Supervisor) of the crew associated with that
particular flight(mission)?
Whatever you all are trying to accomplish, you really do not need my assistance.
