III. Learning Tasks


Engagement
1. Divide the class into three groups. Each group will be given a crossword puzzle, a manila paper
and a marker. Let them play this.

Find Me Game
Look for as many word as you can that are related to our lesson on weather in the crossword puzzle.
The words are looped vertically, horizontally and diagonally. Some words are formed backward.
Tell something about the word you found.
Write your answers on the manila paper.
Do this in ten (ten) minutes.

2. Review the types of clouds. Relate them to the condition of the sky.

Say:
When you look up the clouds I the sky, you can tell what the weather would be. Clouds come in
many shapes, sizes, and colors. They appear at different types and heights too.

3. Let the pupils describe the kinds of clouds.


A. Cirrus clouds- are like white and thin feathers. They appear high up in the sky. They also
called hi clouds.
B. Stratus Clouds - comes from flat in layers. They appear grayish or bluish because they are
low and thick enough to hide the sun. often, these turn to a drizzle or light rain. But
sometimes, the sun shines through thin stratus clouds.
C. Cumulus clouds – clouds appear on a fine sunny day. We usually see them like cottons in
the daytime and disappear at night.
D. Nimbus clouds - are called rain clouds. they appear in big heaps of heavy clouds. They
bring heavy rains and thunderstorm storms. They make the sky dark and look heavy.

B. Exploration:
Using the same group:
1. Let the pupils do Activity 1- What have you observed? and Activity 2- What is the Weather
Condition?

C. Explanation:
1. Let each group report on the activities they have done using the guide questions.

Tell the weather of the day using the data on you weather chart.

What are your bases in telling the weather conditions?


(wind speed, wind direction, air temperature and sky condition)

2. Ask:
How do you find the activities? What do you feel while doing these?
(We feel happy doing the activity because we are able to know the weather of the day.)

Why is it important to record accurate data?

Why is it important to know the weather condition?


(It is important to record accurate data so that we can interpret the weather accurately and
can make necessary preparations.)

D.Extension/ Elaboration:
1. Ask:
What are your bases in telling the weather conditions?
(air temperature, wind speed and direction, sky condition)
Why do we need to give accurate data in telling about the weather condition?
(to inform the people correctly and make necessary preparations and plan for activities)

2.Discuss further
Weather charts tell about weather components that determine the weather condition at any
given time. The daily weather report will help you know the weather condition.

Weather report is important. We should give accurate data on air temperature, wind speed and
direction and the sky direction.

Observing the weather condition will help us decide the kind of activities we will do for the day.
Each one of us must care about the weather because our work depends on its condition for each
day. Knowing the weather condition helps us to be safe and prepare for dangers and calamities.

E. Evaluation:
1. Study the Weather Report.
Metro Manila Fair weather condition all throughout the day.
Temperature ranges from 30oC- 35oC.
Baguio City Light to moderate northeast wind
The sky will be cloudy with brief rain showers in
the afternoon or evening. Temperature ranges
from 20oC- 24oC.
Cebu City Occasional rain shower and thunderstorm in the
afternoon with moderate to strong easterly winds.
Temperature ranges from 250C- 30oC.
Plot a Weather Chart of the above weather report by following the format below.

Listen to a weather report over the radio or watch television tonight.
