Capital Project Update

On a tour of the new capital project, Mr. LaPage gave
updates on when certain aspects of the project will be complete.
Mr. LaPage stated that the new wing will be completed by
mid May. He added that the auditorium will be done by mid to late
June. In the new wing, there will be bathrooms, and classrooms.
There will also be a new BMC bookstore where kids will be able to
buy books and buy a BMC favorite “Pawcorn”. Kids will be able to
learn business and responsibility from the store.
In addition, the auditorium will fit 660 people when they
are done. When touring the school you will see new stairs near the
auditorium. These will be for getting up to the balcony. They are
also installing 2 more elevators in the school. These
improvements will make the school better and more advanced.

Pep Rallies Would Raise School Unity
Throughout the years BMC has had pep rallies to bring together all
students and staff to show school spirit. As the years passed, pep
rallies just faded away. Mrs. Lynch said, “Since I've been here I have
been to less than 5 pep rallies and I would like to see more student
involvement in planning them if we were to bring them back.”Perhaps
some teachers were worried about their plans being interrupted.
More pep rallies, or at least one a year, either before Homecoming or
one in the middle of the year, would be a good start. Pep rallies can
bring people together and give a strong sense of unity. It also gives
more support to sports teams and possibly other clubs in the school.
Brushton needs to cut loose a little more and have more events to
show school spirit. Bringing all the students and staff together could
help increase everyone’s idea of what unity as a school community
can mean.
Biddy Soccer

Brushton- Moira Central School now has Biddy
Soccer! The Biddy Soccer program is for students in grades
1-6. This program is a great way for kids who love soccer
and want to get better at it. Biddy Soccer will teach these
students the basic fundamentals of the sport as well as
develop the skills needed to be exceptional soccer players.
Biddy Soccer will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from
5 to 6:30 from March until the end of April. Biddy Soccer will
start with stretching, and warm ups with the kids. Then they
will participate in relay races, followed by skill drills, and then
will begin games.
Varsity boys soccer coach, Adam Britton, spoke about
his thoughts on the program. Britton stated, ” All sports
should have biddy, and they all should come from the
grassroots to help build an already strong soccer program.”
New Senior Privilege

Senior Privileges are a big thing that Seniors look forward to
throughout their high school years. Although administration
has put a damper on a few things, Seniors really don’t have
any privileges. Seniors used to be able to sign out of school
if they had two study halls in a row and sign out for lunch.
These privileges no longer exist. However, a new privilege
has given the seniors the ability to leave 2 minutes early for
lunch. Ryen Cox who is a senior here at BMC stated, “I think
it’s cool although we should be able to leave a little earlier
than just two minutes.” This Senior privilege was given half
way through the year and indeed does help seniors get
lunch first. Mrs Lavigne stated that she “personally supports
the privilege.” Ultimately, most teachers believe that the
Seniors should be able to have something, the privilege has
been passed.

for 8 years along with being the town clerk. Her experience can
really benefit the Brushton community.

Moira Board Member, Adam Deuyour, stated, “ I really care about

the community, and would love to see people involved in the
community. Both candidates can really make a difference in the
Brushton community. It's all up to the community on who they
want for mayor.”
