Today we are going to learn the forms of the verb To Be in the past: Was and
Were. The verb To Be is a irregular verb, which means that the verb has its own form.
It is used to talk about a concluded action in the past.
We use Was with I, She, He, It and when we use the name of a person. Example:
• I was at home last night.
• He was running.
• She was with her parents.
• It was cold in there.
• Was Miguel home?
• João was absent.
• Mary was sick.
And we use Were with You, We, They or when we use the name of TWO or
more people. Example:
• We were at the party.
• They weren’t at school last Monday.
• Were you at the mall yesterday?
• Lucas and Márcia were playing outside.
• John and Chandler were really nice to you.
